Been quite a few references to this.

Since Petty has shored up our backline once again and we stopped Gws from accumulating a big score, can we move May forward?

Keen to do a survey.

I'd be happy to give it a go if Fritta is struggling and we need Jvr in the middle more.

And off to the circus.........

think the pouring rain and wind mightve also helped them not scoring... big no from me

Would love to see May through forward in bursts here and there as a circuit breaker if we are dominating forward 50s, but not putting it on the scoreboard, however IMHO he's too valuable as the rock of our backline to move away from that role perminantly.

Absolutely encouraged by Petty's performance down there against GWS though and also rapped that T Mac can step up as an emergency and more than hold his own.  Thought Salem also looked back to a good level.  Great to re-establish that elite backline again.  Now just to get McVee back in 3 - 6 weeks (know the injury report might say less, but I'd rather not rush him).

I think we need May in our backline because we're cooked when it hits the deck back there and he's better than McDonald at actually marking the pill.

I'm fine with it. It's good to have more strings to our bow and the elements of surprise can be handy. If the only difference last Sunday was May kicking two goals we win

NAR, YEAH, NAR JUST NAR!

May is our best field kick and our best defender. He actually has the ability to launch us out of the backline. Why anyone would want him forward beggars belief.

When we are all fit, I think one of Petty, McDonald or May needs to play forward. TMac is way too good to leave out.

I remember we moved May forward late in a game against the Swans (I think) back around 2020.

I'm surprised we haven't pulled the trigger more often because he didn't look out of place.

No he has a big slice and usually misses to the right.  Although he mostly kicks them at training so go figure.

After May's return....T-Mac for mine in short bursts off the bench for Roo while Jeffo et al are developing.

Huge yes.  I don't quite understand the negativity to trying it.  Just try it for a half or a game under the right match ups. If it works you have a weapon (Sicily), if it doesnt you learn something and try a different path (Mcvee, Tommy Mccartin).  If your season is shot by moving a player for 1 match, then you dont deserve to win a flag.  Not asking Spargo to play ruck here, although id love to see that too for different reasons.

Probably not, May, Lever, Petty TMAC is perfection

Would I like to see it though? Absolutely, has great hands, super aggressive and a great left foot, bit of James Sicily about this possibility

It would be fun to see him steamroll a few blokes on a lead, in a way that our current forwards don’t.

I would say the end is coming quite quickly for May, so playing him up forward will only speed up that process.

in terms of key defenders in the competition, it's only harris andrews, sam taylor, and jacob weitering that are competing with him as the best tall defender in the competition

i want him back there with lever and petty; that's our core tall trio behind the ball

That’s a Premiership trio right there

I am not robbing Peter to pay Paul, sorry.

indeed

some of petty's reading of the ball in flight and ability to spoil / intercept mark was fantastic to see on the weekend - he's such a different player behind the ball as opposed to in front of it

that we've got a fourth equally capable performer on t mac abe to sub in there in lieu of one of these three when there's injuries is fantastic

i seriously think plugger mac is one of the most underrated players in the competition, and has been a such a good player for us across the course of his career

He's a left footer

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.

  • PREGAME: Geelong

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park — the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days — as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
