Demonland 74,463 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 #BREAKING Melbourne have handed former West Coast mid-season draftee Jai Culley an AFL lifeline after they were granted permission by the league to put him on their list. https://t.co/FngN74QF3w — The West Australian (@westaustralian) February 24, 2025 17 7 9 1 Quote
chook fowler 19,783 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Well deserved. Hope he takes full advantage 7 1 Quote
Lexinator 1,931 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Good to hear common-sense has prevailed for once by the AFL. Welcome aboard, Jai ❤️💙 18 1 1 Quote
deespicable me 1,586 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Do we assume that if Jagga Smith hadn't done his knee as well this wouldn't have happened. Either way it's good news as he has been showing good signs over pre-season and deserves a chance. 29 1 1 1 Quote
GS_1905 360 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 We must have sold the figurative soul to the devil to make the AFL do this. Luckily we are Demons so nothing really lost there. 1 11 Quote
sue 9,277 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 As I posted elsewhere: With all respect and sympathy for Jagga Smith, thank god a Carton player was injured. (yes, I am cynical.) 20 1 4 1 1 1 Quote
sisso 2,628 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Some good news that out of the terrible injury AMW copped (get well soon), Jai gets his chance....we might have the physically biggest midfield in history if we played all of Culley, Petracca, Oliver and Langford in the one side 2 2 1 1 Quote
Supreme_Demon 4,144 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) Funnily enough today is Jai Culley's Birthday on the 24th of February. 🎂 That's a pretty amazing Birthday gift to be put onto an AFL list (albeit due to unfortunate circumstances). I wish Jai Culley all the best at the Demons! 👹🔴🔵 Edited February 24 by Supreme_Demon 15 3 5 1 Quote

hardtack 11,107 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I’m glad his first name doesn’t start with the letter ‘S’. 6 1 14 4 Quote
Bring-Back-Powell 15,559 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Happy with this pick up. Impressed with some of his WC games. Talk about sliding doors. If the game on Saturday ended 2 minutes earlier, then Jai would not be an AFL player this year. 5 1 Quote
titan_uranus 25,255 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I think this is the right call. I don’t think we’ve had adequate midfield depth for a while now and from all reports Culley has done everything asked of him, and more, this pre-season. I reckon we’ll see him in the side earlier than many expect, even if only for a handful of games. 6 1 Quote
Demon Disciple 12,538 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Looks like you’ve aged him by 2 years @Supreme_Demon. 22 going by wiki 2 2 Quote

Ethan Tremblay 31,389 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 A very good pick-up and good dude. Surprised when WC cut him. 1 1 Quote
bing181 9,474 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 At the very least, Culley will keep players like Sparrow (and Langford) honest. Pressure on spots is never a bad thing. 9 1 Quote

Here's your chance Jai! Good luck and all the best at the Melbourne Football Club! ❤️💙 Looking forward to the Demon's media department doing a brief 5 minute interview with Jai over the next day or so. 4 Quote

Deeoldfart 8,205 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) Without seeing any of our recruits live, I’m going to stick my neck out, and say that our recruiters have done an outstanding job this off season. Jai is just the latest of a great bunch! ❤️💙 Edited February 24 by Deeoldfart 6 2 2 Quote
