Do we assume that if Jagga Smith hadn't done his knee as well this wouldn't have happened. Either way it's good news as he has been showing good signs over pre-season and deserves a chance.

We must have sold the figurative soul to the devil to make the AFL do this. Luckily we are Demons so nothing really lost there.

As I posted elsewhere:

With all respect and sympathy for Jagga Smith, thank god a Carton player was injured.

(yes, I am cynical.)

Some good news that out of the terrible injury AMW copped (get well soon), Jai gets his chance....we might have the physically biggest midfield in history if we played all of Culley, Petracca, Oliver and Langford in the one side

Funnily enough today is Jai Culley's Birthday on the 24th of February. 🎂

That's a pretty amazing Birthday gift to be put onto an AFL list (albeit due to unfortunate circumstances).

I wish Jai Culley all the best at the Demons! 👹🔴🔵

Love some mature bodies while we have our stars in their prime.

I’m glad his first name doesn’t start with the letter ‘S’.

Happy with this pick up. Impressed with some of his WC games.

Talk about sliding doors. If the game on Saturday ended 2 minutes earlier, then Jai would not be an AFL player this year.

I think this is the right call. I don’t think we’ve had adequate midfield depth for a while now and from all reports Culley has done everything asked of him, and more, this pre-season.

I reckon we’ll see him in the side earlier than many expect, even if only for a handful of games.

The problem with losing AMW was that he was also going to provide decent midfield depth.

Magnanimity at AFL house? Devil to pay.

Gotta love the PSSSP!

Great mature age recruiting by the Demons

At the very least, Culley will keep players like Sparrow (and Langford) honest. Pressure on spots is never a bad thing.

An excellent long kick for goal by Jai Culley.

Hopefully he focuses on improving his pace.

Here's your chance Jai! Good luck and all the best at the Melbourne Football Club! ❤️💙

Looking forward to the Demon's media department doing a brief 5 minute interview with Jai over the next day or so.

No he wasn’t.

Smooth left footer also. They are known to kick to accuracy.

Me too.  I wouldn't have any idea about how to pronounce "Sjai".

Without seeing any of our recruits live, I’m going to stick my neck out, and say that our recruiters have done an outstanding job this off season.  Jai is just the latest of a great bunch! ❤️💙

I actually didn’t realise he was so big - 1.94 is massive!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
