It was 1972. Mel 23.17 def NM 6.11.  Melbourne 11 goals to 0 at quarter time. From memory we had 7 goals on the board in first 5 minutes.

I was there and still in a daze long after the game finished.

Saturday Feb 22nd at 11am followed by Casey vs North praccy at 2pm. It would be great for folks to stick around for the Casey  match if possible. 👍🏽

MT 64 look up the Melb fc website or the afl website or your local newspaper.

D/L is not necessarily a forum like these other social media or news outlets.

You will get all the info re TV or transport or location also.

I am not happy and only in certain cases to advise on info that is readily available these days on the logical and well informed social media or selected Club or eg AFL websites.

we should be looking up our Club website just as much or more than D/L. For the latest info.

D/L is usually served by Andy or WJ informing us but alternatively too much is provided in details which are not necessarily completely correct or opinion based to rely on.

On the other hand some others in D/L have a wonderful knowledge of facts inside info and very helpful advice no doubt and can generally be relied upon.

But I still think the starting point is the Club Website for credibility reliability and accuracy.

Opinions are added in our posts and this is where the info sometimes gets clouded due to this fact.

So I encourage an ability to source the info from appropriate forums but enjoy our different topics and posts on DL and contribute accordingly.

Not everyone is on the socials and not everyone goes on the club website. There are folks on here for whom Demonland is their sole way of gleaning info on all things Melbourne including training sessions and practice matches. Besides, up until recently, the website wasn’t updated on these matters as often as necessary.

And it’s funny you should choose the info about the Casey practice match this Saturday as an example of why folks should refer to the club website since there’s no mention of it there, or if there is it’s hard to find.

Haven't seen a thread for other team's practice games (uh, 'match simulations'?), so posting here.

So, Naughton's hit on Redman, how many weeks?

Went past the ball, and as you can see below the ball was behind him and below him before making contact. Obviously eyes off the ball unless he can literally see out his [censored].

Left the ground, tucked the shoulder and made contact to Redman's head with enough force to spin him a full 360 before he landed.

image.png.2f130294685f1c84e991e212df196316.png

So, will this be adjudicated according to the Maynard ruleset or the Pickett ruleset?

Many factors to be considered.  How soon are Footscray playing Collingwood?  Or don’t Christiansen / Gleeson partake in practice game assessment?

Sadly it was 2020 at Arden Street.

https://www.nmfc.com.au/news/558823/roos-schedule-practice-match

In 2021 we beat Richmond in a match sim at Casey in front of closed doors and then lost to the Dogs at Marvel in the official AAMI practice match.

Indeed. And as omens go, not great - a month later a world wide pandemic hit our shores.

I've posted this before, But it's worth posting again given we ate playing at Arden Street next weekend.

A terrific flash back to footy in the late 70s (its a shor doco about the roos preparing for their 1979 season) the last third or so is the roos v blues at Arden Street.

This is tautological, for a pandemic is only ever world wide.

Soz Binman but I can never fault anything you say so I’m jumping on this. Consider it a compliment, albeit backhanded 😝

I get your point LG but it’s Redman, and he plays for Essendon 🤮 so for mine, nothing to see here. 😅

Well, you've taken on the wrong person to play the pedantry game with.

Pandemics are not by definition, world wide.

From wiki:

A pandemic (/pænˈdɛmɪk/ pan-DEM-ik) is an epidemic of an infectious disease that has a sudden increase in cases and spreads across a large region, for instance multiple continents OR world wide, affecting a substantial number of individuals.

From the Oxford dictionary:

a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease over a whole country OR the world at a particular time.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
