Sharp has been brought in to play the wing, releasing Windsor to the midfield.

Windsor is still lightly built, fantastic talent but not noticeably stronger than last season. I wonder if he is best suited to the wing still.

All I need to know is are we "training the house down" yet?

Ur kidding. Keep Windsor developing on a wing.. dont bash and crash him in the midfield, he'll be cooked in no time🤮

It’s so very predictable…preseason finally starts & we’re all (mostly) excited to read about the players ..coaches …anything really as it is a time for optimism after a couple of dismal years. It’s fantastic that we have posters who can get to training and give us their insights and opinions. But once again ..anyone who is different or purports to have some relationship with staff or players …out come the knives. I miss WCW & I enjoy Saty ..in fact I read every poster who has been to training & takes the time to post. I have never read a post where two people who have actually attended training criticise each other ?

I wouldn’t count 2023 as a dismal year. We finished 4th and then lost two finals by 7 and 1 point. The finals were disappointing but not dismal. Last year was a bit dismal, but still won 11 games with a lot of negative stuff going on.

That is an interesting "rumour", Andy won't change, 45 did belong to somebody who Andy respects, a lot.

Matt Jones?

Kolt is emerging as a young leader and/or spiritual leader in my view. Once he finds himself at AFL level that will only accelerate his influence on the group. Seems to have a love for the players and the club which will rub off on others

Agreed. Think he is the ideal Gus replacement in that way, the team glue guy.

I suppose that's far, but if you compare him to someone like Trac who spent his holiday's training. They're miles apart in professionalism.

Don't forget Trac already had several months off though, different circumstances to Clarry.

I'm expecting Sharp to fill the Nibbler role. Bust a gut all day running up and down the ground, high pressure player, defensive forward as needed when not slotting goals. Chin will be a variation on that with maybe more link up play and creative forward entries 🤞

Irony....the use of to try and de crease the attacks by the small select but highly vociferous cohort on here who have an aversion to an opposing opinion/viewpoint.

Back on topic, discussed with Mr Windsor at the B&F the early comparison to Robbie Flower, told him to watch some vision

Wow the reporting and special comments have gone up several notches kicked off by Demonland and supported by Kev, WW, Great Sage, numerous other posters Plus Intel from Katrina & Ghost writer re: Tom Couch, etc. Really loving these threads so informative it shows the high footy IQ of the posters which is greatly appreciated. You know what I’m thinking but I won’t say it.😡

Jonesy back, Saty returning to his righful role of club cheerleader / demonland villan, and all lining up after the Dees drop outside the 8 for the first time in a while.  Feels like 2013 all over again 🥰

Absolutely, we had injuries to almost all our key forwards BBB, TMac, Petty when he was breaking out, Fritsch foot fractured, then Melksham goes down in last round playing football of his life, Clarrie went off the rails mid season, Brayshaw taken out by that scum in first final! We were very unlucky with injury in 2023! Any one of the above had been 100% for the season and I think we would have won the flag!

Next year with a solid preseason and luck with injuries Demons can give it a real shake!

we still have top end talent in:

Petracca, Oliver, Gawn, May, Fritsch and Kossie

emerging stars in:

JVR, Windsor & Rivers

proven premiership players:

Viney, Lever, TMac, Langdon

premiership players with something to prove:

Bowey, Salem, Sparrow, Petty, Spargo (2024 injury ruined)

Up and coming:

McVee,

need to step up:

Turner, Chandler, Kolt, AMW, Howe

Draft:

one of 5 or 9 to be top 18 and if both top 18 would be great!!

External pressure off Goodwin and some new assistants will help and Jones can only help with the Petracca, Oliver turmoil!!

I think there is a lot to be positive about! Also off field starting to settle will help. Smith on board will help!

Go Demons!

Good to hear.

Also if he wants to bail on us at the end of next year and loves sunny Queensland we can trade him to Gold Coast for their 3 first round picks they own (Coll, PA, their own). They'll need to get rid of them anyway for Zeke Uwland.

Said facetiously... sort of.

Don’t forget next draft future picks can be traded 2 years in advance. So the Suns will have 5 first round picks to offer, Essendon 4.
There is a real threat come year end that wasn’t there this year.

So you know he wasn’t training or just a guess?

Oliver looks happy in the training photos which is good to c.

I know there is a long way to go but hopefully a happy (and fit) Oliver will mean a return to top form next season.

Time will tell.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
