No, just a member and supporter of the MFC who knows how much work Pert has put into the club and deserves recognition for that effort, rather than the smug celebrating of his leaving from some.

🤣🤣🤣

Both have left the building after a period of turmoil & Saty is still advocating for them.

Next he'll be proposing statues for Neeld & Schwab.

I think it's been gone for a week or so!  At least I noticed it the other week but just thought it was a glitch

I've been overseas so haven't read DL for a while to notice.

It is weird as he used it on a number of my posts in this thread which is what prompted me to ask, tease him a little and dish out some cheek 😊

So perhaps it is a glich of some sort because as @beelzebub 's emoji reactions have disappeared from my notifications feed.

I guess he didn't try to merge the club so that's something some of our previous CEO's can't claim

Can you summarise the Trac part?

“In his first public appearance since his disillusionment with the Demons became known more than two months ago, the midfielder spoke positively about the Demons’ culture.

Asked if he was happy with the culture at the club, Petracca said: “I think so. Culture is an interesting word. It’s a high-performance industry and for me we’re always trying to improve and get better.

“For me, getting people through the door is the right thing. We’ve had healthy conversations and that’s awesome. Like any industry and any club, we’re looking to improve”.

Petracca said he was not fazed by the widespread commentary generated when he privately voiced frustrations with aspects of the culture and the club’s dealings with him after a life-threatening internal injury he sustained during the King’s Birthday match.

“Disappointed is a strong word. I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed, that’s the media’s job is to report on issues,” Petracca said.

“For me, all I’m trying to focus on right now is my rehab and my injury and just being ready for day one of preseason.

“I love my job, I’m passionate about footy, that’s all I’m really focused on now.”“

Thanks Pert for helping bring the 21 flag. Good luck in getting our home base finalised.

Good to c that S Smith is nominating for a board position then hopefully a leading role on the board when he is ready.

Decent letter from Brad Green just hit my inbox.

Steven Smith confirmed he's running for the Board and Brad sees Smith then becoming Chair end of 2025. Will be good to see Brad give it a 12 month run for himself

Not advocating, was just hoping (probably in vain with some of the 'supporters' on here) that his work and efforts would be recognised.

As for Neeld, he was a Malthouse protege, some were hoping some of that 'magic' would wear off, unfortunately the game had moved on.

Schwab had some great ideas, I know discussed a few with him, went about it the wrong way.

Maybe and just maybe, try doing a bit of cold analysis before pontificating, it may surprise you in it's enlightenment.

If my reading of the article is correct, that is not right.  It says Petraaca made statements in his first public appearance at a Melb Cup function:

In his first public appearance since his disillusionment with the Demons became known more than two months ago, the midfielder spoke positively about the Demons’ culture.

Like any industry and any club, we’re looking to improve.”

I read it the same way.

But there is no real link other than timing between Pert going and Petracca 'breaking his silence'.  I would be appalled if he commented on our CEO's departure and do not think that is what he was doing.

The title itself (Gary Pert quits as Melbourne CEO, Petracca breaks his silence) is somewhat misleading.

They could have written the Petracca story in a much more positive way which imv is a good news story ie he is back in the public eye, doing his job for the AFL, the Club and sponsors.

Barlow massive positive too. Bonafide billionaire.

Maybe they can both solve the 40 year riddle of finding our way back home to the G. Yarra Park training base back on the cards, perhaps?

Players staying, improving off the field, progress on training facilities, good draft hand coming up. Almost makes up for a few months of doom-posting.

A seriously good question, I know who I would like but it wont happen. It could take some time. I would not be surprised if it is well into 2025 before we hear.

Concur Roy. I reckon we are not as bad as some so-called supporters on here reckon. Both Pert and the ex-President did some great things in my view and all this [censored] that goes on by some posters is getting tiresome. About time some grew up and stop this bickering.

Huge day for the “told you I was right, I’m smart you’re stupid” cohort at Demonland

Let's see.  He oversaw the developments at Casey Fields.  He has got us closer than any other CEO to a home base with the Caulfield proposal.  He has got the club in the best financial shape it's every been in.  He has seen us get to the highest membership in the club's history.

This is fair; it was a great effort to get our highest membership figure and some financial stability on the back of our first premiership in almost 60 years.

I'm not opposed to this, but more agnostic. I think as a club we may be better off not reinvigorating the old boys club, especially for the role of CEO (cf. President). I will state that I do think having a football background is important in the context of operating a professional football club, but don't necessarily think it needs to be an ex-player.

Off the top of my head, there aren't many former players who have moved into the CEO role - and as of 2023 there were only seven:

- Cook;

- Pert;

- Hocking;

- Kelly;

- Gale;

- Garlick; and

- Harley.

  • REPORT: Carlton

    I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

    The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

    A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
