Was wondering why the birds were singing today.

Agree.

And whilst they're at it add the producer who seems to think long, fast cut video sequences backed by an uber dramatic soundtrack is some sort of artistic genius.

Are you kidding? Cutting the Petracca hates Melbourne story to the soundtrack of Orcs marching on Helms Deep was an inspired choice!

I have to say the Gawn segments on the MMM breakfast (I think I only watch on IG) play well, as does Daisy when he's not doing betting ads. Not nearly ad negative as the footy classified misery, or sanctimonious as 360 often is. I find myself watching most of them, anyone else?

I only found this segment recently but have quickly become a fan. They allow enough time for Max to explain his opinions and experiences rather than look for the headline or controversy which is nice.

Max is always great to listen to.

Finally. I might start watching it if they put someone lucid like Jason Dunstall on to replace him.

Futurama Squinting GIF

Probably untrue and an urban myth but it was reported somewhere that Robbo used to watch and then write his match reports in the bowels of a Fitzroy pub.

Does anyone know whether Mark Robinson writes his own articles or whether they are ghost written? I ask because his written work is articulate, albeit a bit simplistic in its content, whereas his spoken word seems like a train in search of a bridge to fall off.

It's called editing. Done by professionals.

I suspect, given the timing, that the last straw was his disastrous interview with Fagan and potting David King. King responded and wasn't happy, and Fagan was a gentleman and could have had a red hot go at King. King denies the accusation and called Robbo a liar.

Stopped watching regularly when I lost all interest in non-MFC topics, but in an industry full of clickbait wankers I appreciated Robbo's unpolished, man on the street personality. He didn't always get it right or said things in a weird way but the less fake people im the media the better.

Unfortunately, saw that one.
Should have been on Dash Cam Aust

His weird way was getting weirder.

If his post concussion brain is up to it, I think Angus Brayshaw could do a great job on one of these shows.  His Gus and Gawn was good and I think I recall him being decent on the Sunday footy show a few times.

Would be a huge gig first up, but he certainly has the intellect and footy smarts to pull it off.

Confirmed he was sacked last week and was caught off guard

Amazing he lasted 14 years on TV

This whole story just proves what everyone else could see every night. He got told he wasn’t getting a new contract last week, and so he had a sook about it and didn’t show up to work on Monday. So instead of taking the high road and showing up and thanking every body who he worked with publicly, he stayed at home and cried into his beer.

I never understood how he held so many prominent positions, and the way he’s acted just proves that he wasn’t fit to hold them. If you don’t have any discernible talent the least you can do is show and be gracious. That he couldn’t do that tells me he doesn’t understand how utterly replaceable he is.

Why would Lyon want to do that show?

Garry is a great analyser of footy. He'd be great with Gerard but I thought he'd enjoy on the couch more.

Prefer Lyon over Lewis and J Riewoldt who seem to both be playing bigger roles on AFL 360.

I actually truthfully didn't mind Robbo on the show. Brought a bit of character to the show.

Same, Robbo was the passionate fan that would speak his mind and I found it entertaining.
After a bad Essendon loss I couldn't wait for 360 on the Monday.

Although, I'd usually turn the show off after the first 15min once interviews start, except for when they have Montagna and King on.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
