How on earth is the paper at fault when Pickett is continually ''liking'' posts that link him to another club ?

Are there more delusional supporters on the planet than Melbourne's ?

Some blame everyone but the club or players when things go awry.  It's a really strange dynamic.

I get supporting the club, but I don't get completely being blind to common sense.

Then there are others who don't think the club can do anything right.

Are there any normal Melbourne supporters out there ???

West Australian Melbourne forward Kysaiah Pickett likes series of social media posts linking him to Fremantle

Melbourne star Kysaiah Pickett has liked a series of social media posts linking him to Fremantle as he does little to calm reports he is all but certain to end up in purple after the 2025 season.

The West Australian revealed earlier this month the homesick forward was desperate to return to his home state, with one close sources stating “a lot would have to go wrong” for him to not end up a Docker.

A Fremantle insider also told this newspaper signing him was currently one of their highest priorities.

It comes after he was linked to a move to the club in the 2024 trade period, with no deal being tabled.

And just days after the bombshell report, Pickett has liked a number of posts across Facebook and Instagram that link him to the Dockers.

The most recent came on Friday, when he liked a comment by a Fremantle fan page on Facebook that stated his cousin Isiah Dudley joining the side as a train-on was all part of the plan to lure him west.

The comment also stated that Pickett was close friends with superstar Richmond recruit Shai Bolton and Port Adelaide pick-up Quinton Narkle.

“He is Kozzy Pickett’s cousin. Bolton and (Quinton) Narkle are Kozzy’s best mates. All part of the plan baby!” a post from the Flagmantle account read.

Pickett has also liked an Instagram post by another Dockers fan account that quoted The Gettable podcast, who reported the Demon was interested in joining the club right up until the end of last year’s trade period.

The 23-year-old follows a long list of Fremantle players, including Bolton, Narkle, veteran Michael Walters, vice-captain Caleb Serong, defender Jordan Clark, former teammate Luke Jackson and young gun Hayden Young on Instagram.

Fremantle players will get their chance to pitch a move to Pickett next month when the electric forward suits up for the star-powered Indigenous All Stars at Optus Stadium, with Caleb Serong saying the Demon was a “special player”.

“He’s an incredible player and a special player,” he said.

“It’s something that we’re really proud of, to be a club and place that players want to come to, but we don’t see it from that point-of-view.

“We’ve got a lot of guys that just love coming to work, love being a part of what we’re building and if that extends out to other players at other clubs seeing that as a place they want to come to, then that’s amazing.

“It’s just something that we’ve built. We want to build an environment where people want to come to work, love competing, and love getting better.

“If that shows around the league, then that’s great.”

That article is clutching at straws!  Kozzie probably follows all indigenous AFL players and liking his cousins selection as an SSP player is what one would expect.

And for the article to rely on a comment on 'Flagmate' ... good grief !!!!

I have little doubt Freo are desperate to get him and it is unlikely he will see out his contract with us but the lengths some scribes go to get in on the story is just ridiculous.

Their recruiting since Taylor joined has been very good, not perfect, but pretty exceptional.

As CEO Peter Jackson got the club back on track.

But in the AFL era we'd have to be close to the AFL's biggest basket case.  We really have been a joke.

The following win/loss percentage sums up how deplorable we've been.  Thank goodness for Gold Coast.

Since the beginning of the AFL era in 1990.

Geelong 63.51%
Collingwood 54.80%
Hawthorn 54.48%
Port Adelaide 54.34%
West Coast 54.33%
Sydney 53.55%
Essendon 51.75%
Adelaide 51.22%
Western Bulldogs 50.06%
North Melbourne 48.69%
St Kilda 48.05%
Brisbane 47.33%
Greater Western Sydney 46.51%
Richmond 46.00%
Fremantle 45.33%
Carlton 44.96%
Melbourne 44.14%
Gold Coast 29.51%

Not sure how this is relevant to this thread but how about you do the win/loss ratio over the past 5 to 7 years just for some balance

I’ve followed this team for many decades and frankly what happened over 20 years ago hardly seems relevant to much at all

2021?

Obviously that’s a pisstake and I agree for a lot of the last 30 years we’ve been very poor, however the past 5 years we are in the top 4 for total win percentage. So we have been doing something right and it should be acknowledged.

I can see Freo reaching top 4 this year with probs the best midfield in the league now. and best ruck combo. a bit like the Petracca situation late last year, if Kozzie wanted to go there, how could a deal be done ?

they said that last year about flagmantle as well

in terms of how could a deal get done? at the end of the this season, or next, or the one after - he's under contract so it's not something to comtemplate at this stage...

...that said, look at the bolton deal - koz is years younger, under contract, and arguably better at the same age

That's an anomolous stat...  why not choose a period more representative of recent history... we had a historic bad patch, but have had good five years snd currently have an excellent list. The glass needs to be half-full before it is consumed.

When Maynard gets nothing for ending a career and Kozzie gets 3 for an unlucky bump, the system is stuffed.

The BS technicalities applied to get big club’s players off like Cripps, who ended a Lions’ season, are symptomatic of a money above all else based sport.

We have won a premiership since the inception of the AFL.  How many Afl clubs can't say that? Fremantle GC Suns GWS St Kilda.  Essendon Carlton North Adelaide haven't won one this millennium.

As you were.  The new millennium didn't start until 1st January 2001.  (2000 was the last year of the old one.)

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
