surely we're not looking at bell for the ceo role??

I don't know. I assume the media linked us because he was out of a job and we need a new CEO

With an important season in front of this club, I will wait until seasons end to worry about Picket or any other move by players at the end of the season.

I enjoy watching Pickett play in the red and blue and hope I can watch him in our colours for a lot longer. However, this is professional sport and the players play for teams for all sorts of reasons.

I, as a supporter, have followed the Demons ever since I can remember and will continue to do so no matter who is in the team or on the list. If Pickett, or any player choses to leave for another team, so be it. Swings and round-a-bouts.

I support my team first and then the players.

P.S. it will be interesting to watch the interaction of Kossie with the Freo players at the end of the game on the 15th Feb.

In terms of trade value, and assuming Kozzie doesn't have an amazing All Australian year, you couldn't expect more that what they paid for Shai Bolton. Essentially 10 and 18 to Richmond with a few things going back to Freo (11 also went to Richmond but they gave 14 back to Freo)

Bolton has an All Australian under his belt.

The difference being Richmond were willing participants in that trade as they sought to fast track a re-build (and Shai is several years older than Koz and was pretty average last yr).

I tend to think that Kozzie’s comment about wanting to play in WA with the Indigenous team has been construed that he wants to play for Freo. Poetic license ..Tom Morris ..Sam McClure are perennial offenders

It's pretty obvious where he wants to be. I don't think it's been posted but he liked this post not long ago.

Pretty unprofessional behaviour to be doing that knowing it can be publicly seen.

Also talk that Freo are heavily into Ian Hill from Collingwood.

Norm Smith medallist that's getting paid a pittance with Collingwood ($400,000 per year)

And the Chad (Warner).

Contracted so one can play hard ball. We should be targeting some Freo players in return.

His other uncle seemed pretty keen for him to commit to MFC. We'll see.

If that's the case Freo are going to have to get really creative and involve a third or fourth club as they appear to be on the rise and will likely hold mid teen + first round draft picks for the next couple of years.

Or they could hand over Josh Treacy to solve our forward line woes, but they won't.

He also didn’t follow the MFC on Instagram up until sometime late last year, but has actively liked and followed the Dockers for a fair while.

I had a few time-stamped screenshots but have seemingly deleted them.

Unprofessional? Maybe. Or perhaps he's got a sense of humour and is just trolling Fremantle and its supporters.

I have no concerns about him leaving.

I was watching a small portion of the greatest game in the AFL era last night (which i do in times of stress).

For those like me who couldn't actually see it live, it occurred at the end of the 2021 season.

On his right forearm Kozzie had inscribed the word "loyalty".

I admit I hadn't previously noted it (despite watching the game more than once) but it clearly indicates he is going nowhere.

Well hopefully he doesn’t have a map of WA and $$$$$ tattooed on his right and left b-TT cheek

Surely they have a growing salary cap issue…

Doesn’t ever seem to be a problem for some teams

I really hope Kozzy stays it would be a very bitter pill to swallow loosing both he and LJ to flogmantle

It will also be devastating for many young demon supporters

It helps to have 'rusted on' sponsors who indulge a bit of (extra) nepotism.

These days the AFL seems to turn a blind eye to such things.

Hey Im 64... and it would still be devastating. Kozzy is my favourite player and one of our most important.

Starting with Brayshaw, would not bat an eyelid if he went! Gets reported and rubbed out too much. His ommisions in first 4 games are crucial.)

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
