Oh I'm sad about this. He was so good during our St Kilda game this year.

Thanks Adam Tomlinson there but for a cruel injury you could have been a Premiership hero. Good luck and wish you all the best in any future ventures.

Could there be a mature age state player or delisted FA we've got pegged for that role?

As it stands, there is no back up for May, Lever or TMac unless Petty, Turner or both return to the backline.

Adams not shown near enough, I'd have thought, and Hore not really a like for like cover.

Am I forgetting someone?

I assume it’s Tomlinson wanting to move rather for than us wanting him gone.

If it’s the former, good luck to him and he should seek a regular spot somewhere.

If it’s the latter and Tomo was willing to take a pay cut then it’s a poor list management decision given May and Lever are getting a year older and our defensive depth will be relied upon.

Cheers Tommo, you played some great games for us including the first couple months of '21 not to mention QB in '23.

Hopefully Adams takes the next step in '25 or Jefferson plays which allows either Turner or Petty to play back because this is a pretty big hit to our defensive depth. Maybe Kruger and/or Andrew incoming?

Thanks for everything Adam. Sometimes maligned but certainly played his part in the journey to the flag. One of the good guys

Big mistake delisting Tommo, will come back to bite us when injuries arise.

List management is evolving the list though. Jeffo was a first round pick who’s drastically improved in the vfl, it’s reasonable to expect he’ll be ready to play afl next year. Doesn’t have to be great, just has to cover what Petty did (or slide JvR to Petty’s role) and then Petty goes back to cover Tomlinson. Similar for Fullarton. We wouldn’t be asking him to step in to big shoes up forward.

May, McDonald and Petty gives us 3 full backs, we can use others at CHB if we have one of those 3 in the side.

Hore adds more value by being able to play as a back flanker (as depth). Injuries are a worry. I wouldn’t be adverse to moving him on for a mature pick up. Either way, we don’t need to keep carrying Tomlinson.

That would be the plan going forward I reckon JVR, Turner and Jeffo (if he has a ripping pre season uninterrupted).

Petty returning to the backline to form the much vaunted Bermuda Triangle.🔺

Tmac reverts to Tommo's defensive cover role.

Thank you Adam for your service and all the best on and off field in the future

May have been mentioned by others (pardon the bad pun), but will never forget the ripping game he played against Geelong in early 2021 after Hawkins smashed Steve's eye socket.  Winning that game was so important for our belief and early season momentum and Tommo did more than just hold up an end in May's absence.

I will personally remember Tommo as a contributing member of of premiership squad, not as frindge player in our team.  Having players of his calibre as depth that season was huge.

As a side note, I still can't believe that Hawkins didn't get suspended for that clumsy hit on May and really does make me think that we get harder done by that other charmed clubs/players.  Kossie only has to look at someone and scare them into falling over and he is garrenteed a 3 week suspension.

Good coin to be made in the country leagues

Is there? Not being sarcastic, genuinely interested in what the going rate is these days for someone coming out of the AFL system? 👍

Soooo......

If Petty and Turner are forwards......

And May gets injured next year......

Who plays on big forwards?

Tomo was far from perfect but sometimes you just need a body to temporarily fill a role.

And we've shown no interest in Denver Granger-Barras or any other defenders?

I suspect he isn’t the sort of guy that is happy to continue to be ‘injury insurance’.. may also not be a great leader for the developing guys at Casey, I think he is just too competitive.

Don't know the full details, but many moons ago, players in the Goulburn Valley were on very good money. Even in some of the top suburban leagues, the coin is very good

He could pick or choose his club he'd have no shortage of offers at 1K+ a game or he could ho to the ammos and play for the love of the game😄

Nope, it was our call, and he naturally is disappointed.

“When the decision came through I was pretty upset and even though I knew it was coming it’s not the easiest thing to hear, particularly that they value other people higher than you.”

I thought they would keep him.  Every side needs a defender with a big build making it hard for a forward to maneuver around.  May and to a lesser extent TMac fill that roll for us, but there was only Tommo who could cover for injuries.  If Lever goes down then Petty could go back and cover for him, but Petty has a slim build and couldn't cover for May.   I hope they've got a younger big build defender in mind among delisted players.

Sorry to see him go, but not a surprise. A very well spoken man & nice person

Hope he gets another gig but really hope it's not the filth.

Granger-Barras has been delisted.  Any interest?

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
