Could not be more thrilled with the outcome, we've just picked up 2 absolute stars, consistent players, classy left foot kicks and both great character and leadership. Well done MFC

Fingers crossed we manage him well between now and Round 1, he’s a walk up start

The exact kind of player I was hoping we would target.

He might not have Pendles’ class or Bont’s boot but he’s in the same height and strength and has plenty of penetration on his left foot. A better overhead mark than Pendles and maybe even better overhead for his age than Bont.

Is he a great athlete - probably not. Is he the most precise with his skills no. But he racks the ball up, dominates at stoppages and creates a lot of scores.

To me he’s the pick 1 aside from Ashcroft.

I really liked his vfl game. Because he did find it a bit hot early. But he started to find more space and make some really good inside 50 kicks as well as show his ability to break from packs and cut through traffic.

Only one of his kicks is marked inside 50. Some of those entries are truly terrible. Like dees level forward entry terrible.

How hard is it to get the blue in our jumper to be like that of Chunk’s polo? It almost looks purple in comparison

I reckon (from the highlights) he has a game not dissimilar to the style of Michael Voss. Don't shoot me

That is a huge relief Harvey getting through to our Pick 5 is absolutely magnificent it must have been all the talk on Demonland but I was so invested in Langford it would have been a bit disappointing had we missed him. Also think that Xavier Lindsay complements Harvey as well as he is held in high regard by a couple of track watchers whose opinions I really rate. Great result for the club and will sleep well tonight.👍😁

He's a big lad this Harvey Langford!

Jason Taylor gave him high praise during his interview on the AFL Live stream. Apparently he is incredibly competitive which is excellent to hear!

I am excited to see what he can do for the Demons.

At 191cms he is definitely another midfield bull who can learn off the likes of Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The ball is now in Harvey Langford's court to train hard and see if he can make it at AFL level.

This quote in the article from Langford is music to my ears (and I absolutely love that he is a left footer):

“I really wanted to show my kicking ability – being able to find someone up forward, whether through score involvements or in the backline, and show my in to out handballs as well: being able to get the hardball, take a few steps, get away and get the (hands off),” Langford said.

“I’ve worked on driving power through my kick and find someone whether 20, 30 or 40 metres away…and finding the right option.”

Bump.

He strikes me as a no nonsense type.

He's a pretty shy and quiet kid but is just a competitive brute once he crosses that white line.

Physically I could see him becoming Cripps/Josh Kennedy build.

I've been struggling to find an analogy. Lindsay was easy because something twigged in me that said 'Kade Simpson', but Langford I can't quite pin a comparison.

Earlier in the thread a couple of people noted an Angus Brayshaw look at times, and that caught my attention as well, particularly with a few occasions he ran hard back with the flight of the ball to take a defensive mark on the wing.

Langford does look like a very 'complete' footballer, in a way that got me so excited about Gus back in his draft and early days. I remember thinking about how Petracca was 'one day' going to be a player who ripped games open, but that I still preferred Brayshaw for that feeling of completeness.

Reminds me of Josh Kennedy.

More like Disco.

Really happy with us picking Langford. It’s anyone’s guess how any of the draftees will end up going but I just get a feeling this kid is going to be something special.

All along I was keen for us to select him over all the players that had been mentioned as possibilities at this pick.

Welcome to the MFC and may you have a long and successful career, Harvey!

I see Nathan Brown. But a Mid/Fwd version

Looks great and will be a salve for those that worry for CO13 and CP5.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
