Hnmm I am pondering this, he was excellent yesterday from all accounts and 6 goals in a losing team with average delivery makes it a "Brilliant "game. But who would he replace?? Petty played his best game of the season as did Disco, so that leaves a rejig of forwards. Could we be tempted to go tall with Petty, Disco,Rooey, and BBB??? this could mean dropping Chandler, who has been OK, or someone else. I would say Sparrow will be missing so obviously Milkshake is in the 22, anyway would NOT begrudge him a farewell game at all. He has been fantastic for MFC and is a TOP BLOKE as well! Thoughts??

Farewells are nice and I'm sure we'll do our best but I want to focus on retaining our stars.

Respecting veterans helps retain start, though.

It would seem that Brown has managed to gather a moment of form in the 2s and at any time in the rest of the second half of this season he might have been included on pure merit at this time. Awkwardly it seems the rest of our tall forwards got their act together a bit against Gold Coast on the weekend, so it is hard to push him in without unfairly pushing someone out.

I'd be happy to see him named, even as sub. The guy has been an excellent player, was important to our premiership, has kept his head up around the club despite setbacks, and provided a really healthy human attitude.

On balance, combining sentiment and the fact he played well on the weekend, I say give him a game.

I don’t think so.

He can be honoured another way, at half time for example

We have a game of footy to play and hopefully win and our young tall forwards finally started to click

Would love to see Bbb get a send off game but don’t see it happening unfortunately. A great man off the pitch and a flag winner.  Hopefully he stays involved with the AFLW team for a while but understand he lives on the other side of town

Ben Brown should run out with the Side on Friday, go through the Banner and then jog around the Boundary

He certainly deserves a Send off…

  • Demonland changed the title to Does BBB get a "Farewell Game" next week?

Don’t think so. There is no hard and fast rule but I don’t think so. Not that it matters nor do I really care either way.

For selection integrity if we were playing finals no as all our tall forwards fired and there isn’t a spot for him….but maybe we should somehow find a spot, even as the sub to honour a retiring premiership player

No way IMO

tell someone who is left out of the team for BBB trying to make their way

His knees are in consultation with him right now…

Love BBB, and up until half way through this year believed we were still a better team when he was in the side. He was such a vital cog in 2021. But send off games are best reserved for ex-Captains, or other more significant players. So unless one of the current tall forwards are injured or being managed, no, to a send off game. Lets acknowledge him is some other way.

No

We should let him take a set shot prior to the game.  His run up should give fans plenty of time to express their thanks and appreciation.

If we give BBB a farewell senior appearance do we do the same for Lachie Hunter who is sitting on 199 games?

I'd rather pick our strongest 23 and bury them.

Lachie Hunter didn't play for Casey on the weekend nor was he there yesterday with the rest of the team it seems?

Has he privately been given the flick already...?

Wasn’t he there?

@WalkingCivilWar was Hunter on the GC?

No idea but not playing yesterday surely puts a line through a call up next week?

Yes I would assume so.

No, he wasn’t. We would’ve seen him at some point throughout proceedings.

I think being unable to get fit to play at Casey most of the year is enough

Luv BBB, Premiership Full Forward 🏆

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
