My main gripe is that you cant pay cash! Seriously what happens if the terminals go down. Imagine the uproar!

You cannot use cash at Adelaide Oval and most venues in Adelaide. Sign of the times sadly.

I bring everything from home. Even at interstate matches, I pack food and water in my carry-on.

And every week I smuggle in cans of energy drink/Pepsi Max. Unless I forget to hide them in which case I get busted and have to either bin them or consume them. On more than one occasion at the ‘G and at Marvel I’ve stood beside the queue and chugged multiple cans of V or Red Bull. 😑

Are you 15?

Can't people get through a couple of hours at the footy without feeding their face?

You do realise of course that any food is taking up valuable beer space in your stomach.

If I'm starving on those stupid Thurs night games I might get the chips and chicken strips thing but I generally don't eat at the footy.

Kids meal is the best value if they’re hungry. $10, chips, nuggets, bottle of water and a giant Freddo. Winner, the rest are overpriced.

4n20 pie, hopefully it’s a hot one and beer at halftime and after the game. Our Tradition

Should never eat on an empty tummy!

Cost is also silly up here in Qld. I even mention to the poor people serving the grog that I only want a beer not a carton when paying. Quality is ordinary at best.

Do you guys still get the hot, jam donuts outside the G from the van? Used to love them after a game.

I don’t go to the footy to eat though I may buy a pie occasionally. I still miss the Four’NTwenty Cornish Pasties from years ago which were delicious. Don’t know why they were discontinued and an Australian cultural tragedy they are no longer sold. I don’t drink the catspiss served at the ground. I smuggle in a couple of shots of over proof rum for the tense and exciting moments.

i refuse to buy anything at the games - it's a rip off

i remain determinedly low yield

Ditto but also because i refuse to pay any vendor that doesn't accept legal tender ie; cash.

I haven't bought anything from any outlet in over three years now including the outside vendors.

The last time i attempted to, i orded half a dozen jam donuts and when lady refused to accept my cash i just walked away laughing.

I do the same at all other outlets around town now, unless i'm attending a function that i haven't organised myself as a guest and have no choice.

My food pinnacle was at the 1987 MCG finals. Esky filled with food from David Jones food hall (in those days excellent) and a bottle or two of French wine from Nick's in Doncaster.

Now it's a peanut butter roll and a few mandarins with a plastic bottle of tap water

Bare necessities are sometimes best - peanut butter is heaven-sent.

I'm loving attending regular baseball games here in California watching the San Francisco Giants

Full strength beer, crab cakes, garlic fries, decent burgers - it's a heck of a lot better than the [censored] served at an AFL game

The awful Gami chicken offerings in AFL Reserve was replaced by another awesome fried chicken joint run by the same catering company that does the other foot shops. The chicken and burgers there are awesome. Problem is they only open if the crowd is 40k+.

I went to a Brooklyn Nets and a Knicks game and the quality of food at both venues was mindblowing. I got slow cooked beef brisket, tacos, loaded hot dogs... and nothing over $8 US.

I always thought the time honoured tradition at baseball games was to eat hot dogs. Times have changed.

I once had Domino's at the MCG

Over ten years ago .

I swear they were just frozen pizzas.

Not that Domino's is fresh to start with but this was worse.

In the USA, 10 Oz $ would buy you a feast on game day.

Welcome to Oz.

But  in general food is cheaper in the USA I suppose and you won't get shot here getting some.

Can't really complain.

I do like greasy meat pies

Except when they're too hot and you have to nibble them and then feel unsatisfied.

If I'm with family, we generally bring mandarins and a freshly baked cake.  Occasionally I might relent and get some hot chips too. At the Cats game, one of the 20 year olds that seem to have endless money and time for the beer at the G but not watching the game exclaimed in the first quarter and asked for some of our apple tea cake.  I said it was only for Dees supporters - but once we beat them and our song was playing, recanted and offered him a slice in pity!

I must be too soft - I would have given it to him the first time ...

... on second thoughts, I wouldn't give it to an Ess or Coll supporting.

For me (aside from chips) it depends on the kick off and what i'm doing pre-game as to whether I will grab anything substantive at the game.

Royal Stacks in the MCC not a bad option tho tbh.

Hopefully a whopping big serve of humble pie will be on the menu for them this weekend Lucifer's Hero.
