I think GWS offered him a permanent starting 22 role, and thatโ€™s what he really wanted and couldnโ€™t get at Melbourne.ย

No such thing as a guaranteed starting spot when you are a fringe player at best. A starting spots is earned. ๐Ÿ™Œ

There you go, INS - McAdam, Salem and BBB

Pretty happy with that.ย

Salem better have a blinder thinking he is past it

This game will tell he can't hide and no excuses he is picked he is ready

Mistake in my view. Hope I'm wrongย

ย

Salem a chance to be the sub this week given heโ€™s coming back from injury.ย

It looks like Petty will be second ruck.ย

Could be good for him. He has a pretty good leap, he's competitive, and has a tendancy to drift out of games so this will help keep him involved.

Hope his foot doesn't blow up though obviously.

Yes. Play someone as a sub for 11 games in a season โ€ฆ then offer a contract. ย Jordon and Bedford werenโ€™t given the opportunity and saw better chances elsewhere. ย Thatโ€™s the uncomfortable truth of it. ย

I'm not sure this is uncomfortable for many.

We rated Jordan enough to offer him a 3 year contract and he was regularly in our best 23, in fact we selected him in that best 65 times over three years. Bedford 16 times in his last season with usย

I'm sure we said to both of them that we faith in them improving and becoming a more permanent fixture in our best 22, but also that the next steps of their development were around how hard they worked and where they developed. I'm sure both the players and the club understood they'd need to push someone out of the team.

So when an opposition club comes and says "here is our best 22, and this is your position and your role" and you ask them who the competition for that spot it, and their answer is players you believe you have comfortably covered, then it's not a surprise what they chose - the guarantee of play time.

Agree they were in our best โ€œ23โ€ as the sub over and over and over again. It was monotonous. ย Clearly they were both targeted by other clubs (Giants and Swans) as players of talent that were denied regular footy and they have shown their talent. ย Jordon in particular would have been a key player for us in the midfield rotation this year with Gusโ€™ retiring. ย

But until 2 weeks before the season he would have been sub at best.ย

I always liked both of them but tbh Jordan would still struggle to get a game and Bedford is really Kozzy for GWS so not sure either would get gamesย

Remember years ago when a player would miss dueto personal reasons & everyone would speculate.ย  Now nothings said which is good.

I think Ben Brown will straighten us up looking forward to seeing what McAdam can do

Based on his form and the specialised role heโ€™s playing, and the form of our midfield this year, Jordon would be a lock in our starting 22 and would ย be higher in the B&F than our other mids such as Sparrow, Clarry and possibly Viney.

Plus, with the absence of Brayshaw, weโ€™ve got some midfield vacancy IMO.

1-3.

The win came against North in round 10 2022.

Two losses against the Dockers.

At least we know we can still defeat bottom of the ladder teams ๐Ÿ˜‚

Um no! Jordon NQR at Dees but playing well at Swans BUT CLARRY, VINES are a little um not quite yet at optimum levels

Both Bedford and Jordon were around the mark for the Dees but had their chances to lock in spots in the year they moved on but never capitalised. We offered deals on both and they were targeted by teams with more cash and clearer roles for them. Jordon is very well suited to the SCG in particular and if Gus was on the list there would only be the ongoing argument as to he vs Sparrow in our rotation. Otherwise his situation would not have changed.ย

Bedford again was offered a contract with us but did not back himself in to push ahead of Spargo in our small forward set up in 2023.ย

Itโ€™s good to see both of them have positive starts with their new clubs but you cant say we did not try and retain them. The question is whether we gave them enough opportunity prior to their departure. Being they both played more than 15 games (noted some as sub) each in their final year with us itโ€™s hard to argue we didnโ€™t.

I'm hoping it's all good news.

I think he is vital to our success.

The most phenomenal runner in the comp and like having 2 players the way he follows up.

Gives Billings a reprieve.

Billings has been steadily improving on every outing, very good ball user!

Definitely...except when kicking at goal or further than 30 metres. But I do like him, maintains a calm facade and tackling/defensive efforts have been better last 2 weeks, IMV

Hoping Woey gets a full game. He deserves it. Preferably up fwd or probably to take Langers position on the flank.ย  Will our fwd line kick enough goals? It's seems really just down to Kozzie and Fritta this year.

I hope Milkshake can get back to the team this year and soon. Unless Petty hits a golden patch we will really struggle to kick enough goals. Maybe the new fwd line injuries and subsequent replacements this round may be fortuitous.

These are the games on paper we should win but cause a rise in Mfcss. ๐Ÿ˜„

We recruited McAdam to kick goals and really be another Melksham, I see them as similar types anyway and we love Melksham he is so important to our forward line so imagine if McAdam turned out to be properly similar...wouldn't that be excellent!ย  Hope he can put on a show this weekend with our other forwards, I'm excited to see what he brings, this is why we got him.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven Mayย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
