6 Petracca.  5 goals.  Tried his hardest.  Nothing in the first quarter then so dangerous up forward.

5 ANB. Cracked in all night.  All night. Some silly handballs but ran ran ran.

6 Petracca- what a game as our full forward - kicked five and set up at least four others - plus was sent to the bench every time he kicked a goal in first three quarters - that way Goody made sure we didn’t get a run on.
5 ANB - what a super job after half time shutting down Walsh.

4 May - with Lever beaten early and T-Mac making howlers - Maysie was our best defender.

3 Viney - with Olly well beaten by Cripps and co and Gawny negated,  it was up to our G&D man to spark us up in the middle.

2 Langdon - I really loved his run all night - made a mockery of Hollands early and then played half forward with ANB tagging.

1 Sparrow - would have been in our best three if he lowered his eyes a few times.

honorable mention to Rooey who was almost in our best six.

Apologies to Tom Sparrow, Trent Rivers, Duke Windsor, Jake Bowey, Jack Billings, Blake Howes, Jacob v R and special mention to Taj Woewodin who impacted immediately when given the opportunity. A great second half by the Dees if only there were some decent umps out there.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
