Lever injured?

Getting pretty much nothing from our forwards, and moving the ball sloppily from defence. We do look tired, as you'd expect.

Lets face it.
We're going about as good as the umpires right now.

I don't think there was any reason not to see out the quarter without conceding. Why did Rivers go inboard?

Lucky not to be 5 goals down here not real confident now they look way off

5 days break will do that to you

the boys needed to sharpen up otherwise we're in trouble

They were always going to come out firing

7 shots to 2 and we are 5 points down

i’ll take that!

Rivers first quarter kicking again. Grrr.

Flat game of footy without lots of intensity.

We usually play and score so well from a halfback turnovers, but we can't seem to get it past the wing.

Choppy game so far, I think we’ll be ok when it settles. Crows getting away with a fair few throws, drops, arm chops - looks like they’re getting unco allowance.

Poor kicking performance so far from Riv. Turned it over with his last 3 kicks.

Noise of affirmation working well

Completely outcoached and outplayed that quarter

Lucky they didn't kick straight

Adelaide play a chip game.... you win 70 metres out from their goal and rebound

We look pretty tired and sloppy.

Getting smashed in the middle and our foot skills have been bad.

Hopefully we’re saving the energy for.. . Well, from now because we can’t afford them entering the 50 like that all game, eventually they’ll improve conversion.

Hard to see on the Telly, Is Oliver being tagged? Can’t seem to get near it.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
