Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I just watched the Freo dissent decision and I’d like to know what dissent is regarded as now?

Because if dissent is questioning the umpires decision, that happens in every single quarter of every match I’ve seen this year multiple times.

Players on the mark constantly dispute decisions… why no dissent? If the umpire calls a mark and the opposition player on the mark says ‘X player touched it’ or ‘that ball was out of bounds’’ for example, that is dissent. Why was Freo called for it when it gets overlooked constantly in all of these other times?

Have you seen the behind the goals vision BoBo?
Clark must’ve given the ump an almighty spray after Cottrell kicked the goal because you can see his teammate in Walker waving his arms telling him to stop.

Agree here. The AFL boss said they are considering the two incidents on the basis of first the touched mark incident and the dissent incident, with the dissent result still being reviewed, and they agree that the touched was wrong.

Problem is that the second incident would not have happened if the adjudication was correct in the first place allowing the game obviously to a win for Fremantle..

Yes he did. According to other media reports, it was quite vicious.

So the AFL have admitted that the Carlton goal was the WRONG decision.

GET SOME DECENT 4k Cameras fitted at every game ya Cheap Bastards.

All Clubs should go on strike until this is completely sorted out

It makes a mockery of the whole Competition

how I despise the useless overpaid suits who run the AFL

Like most of Carlton's players they play a very doubtful, shifty and sooky type of borderline take any advantage, if you can get away with it.

No field umpire would have called touched even when vision showed that the ball grazed a hairfollicle of the docker player. No umpire would have noticed that.

Pretty loud follicle if six players heard it at the same time.

Another thing is that this seems to be a feature of Carlton. Change to frenzy, make sure it's in the forward line and you are bound to be given a charity  by brown p/b maggots. Dare i say five times out of last ten games

Maybe the AFL can you use this fan’s phone for reviews. Pretty clear the ball deflects when you slow it down, maybe harder during real speed.

The AFL should all be sacked over this. But of course they will all survive.
They had 6 months to fully sort this out after the Adelaide debacle, and have done Sweet F$&@ all.
The Arc is pathetic. They spend time reviewing shots that are clearly fine, but refuse to make serious calls because the Cameras are total garbage

we the Fans and the Clubs must demand that the AFL fit 4k Cameras at every AFL VENUE

Paid for by the AFL, not the Broadcaster

Maybe the suits will have to take a Pay Cut

Tell Crypto.com to pay for it, since they love the advertisement during those ARC reviews. Btw, they should use spider cameras to have a bird's eye view of the action.

Spider Cameras can be one of many options available. There should be no hidden angle.
I want to see the AFL spend some money on the game, and not themselves for a change

Probably not. But I was just watching the GWS/Sun game and they had a video review after the umpire didn't pay a ball touched but several oppo players made a fuss..  Why not do that in every such case and maybe introduce penalties if it is clear the player claiming to have touched it is lying?

it was determined as touched

If the umpire didn't hear so be it he only gives decisions on what they see or hear or do we now just say that if a player says he touched it it must be so.  Stop blaming umpires for everything it's a damm hard job,  players make more mistakes than umpires during the game yet all supporters can say it's the umpires fault we lost the game.

No game with officiating officials is not perfect.

i can't think of another 'professional' league where the 'officiating officials' are part-timers

how do you accordingly hold them to account? in the afl, they don't

You play with what given to you, being full time would not have helped with the players touching the ball around the ground. But I believe they should be full time.

Jack Lukosius today has provided the perfect textbook example of what 'disposal efficiency' is and is not.

The key is that a disposal is still counted as effective if it travels beyond a certain distance (I think 40m?) to a contest.

As I'm looking at the stats now, Lukosius has 22 disposals, going at 81% efficiency, for a total of 680 metres gained (!!) but also seven turnovers. So, with a third of his disposals being outright turnovers he's still got close to the best DE% on the field because he is banging it on average more than 30m forward every time he gets it!

Giants 4-0. Definitely a premiership threat.
Stars.  Kelly. Green. Coniglio. Greene. Taylor. Whitfield.
Very strong soldiers to support. Himmelberg. Brown. Buckley. Ash. Daniels. Idun.
Developing stars. Callaghan. Cadman.
And two very exciting forwards in Hogan and Bedford.
Orange tsunami a real danger.

Thought a high protein diet was the go to build muscle mass. Excess carbs could be converted to fats. My personal favourite stout and bananas. Beamish, Guinness and ladyfingers preferred.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
