What now? Is this where we feel sorry for an ex player who can't cut it or get picked elsewhere? Not attacking the OP as it's a worthwhile question but sometimes we're going to let players go who don't go on and have glittering careers elsewhere.

I know a lot of people on here follow ex players very closely and credit to them but I'd personally rather watch how Matt Jefferson is tracking than tune in to Essendon's VFL game to watch Weid.

Sam unfortunately never displayed the hunger or physicality to become a reliable KPF at AFL level. One of JT’s few misses, but it is hurting us quite a bit

Curnow, McKay... What could it have been ? 😭

I have never understood why no one at 2 clubs has ever tried him down back as an intercept defender. He did play some good games for Casey as a ruck I think. The guy has ability, he has size and is mobile but he doesn’t have that aggression and swagger you need to be a KPF.

Sam has concrete hands.  For someone whose game is meant to be built on contested marks, that is a fatal flaw.  It's not necessarily a lack of effort, but the ball bounces off his hands every time he tries to take a grab.  If he can't mark the ball, he has nothing else to offer.

I think he has the attributes to remain on a list somewhere. But time is running out to find his role. It’s probably a third tall rotating as a relief ruck. But he’s had time. It’s not like Watts, who was always a quarterback played up key forward.

Also played a few good games as a defender at Casey in between his usual forward / occasional ruck roles.

Still makes me sad to think about how “almost” he was / is. starred in our first final in over a decade vs Geelong in 2018. kicked 3 and tackled everything.

As great as JT is the Weid call over mckay and curnow still burns.

IWatched the 1st half on tv and attended the game in the 2nd half.Sandy dominated most of the game.Weid injured in 1st 1/4 and had to get stitches.Came back on with head bandage.Ball hardly got into the Bombers forward line so little opportunity to eat a kick.

We played too safe.  Curnow said he was going to play with his brother so see you later in 2 years and McKay was troubled???

It's meaningless regretting the past. Every recruiter and drafter in the country would have picked Watts at one. We didn't get it wrong. Most clubs missed on Phil Davis, Steel Sidebottom and Jordon Roughhead too.

Sam is a two grabber and hence won' t make it at AFL level in a KP

If he can't mark he offers little else

Maybe he could be tried as a ruck? at 197cm he offers height..

These exact same things were being said 4 years ago. Some people just aren't cut out for it.

People who complain about JVR need to realise that he kicked nearly 30 goals in his debut season.

Weideman has been in the system for 8 years and is yet to kick 20 goals in a single season.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

    TRAINING: Thursday 9th January 2025

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
