Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes, yes, I know it’s not what you said, but I wouldn’t view it a fail if a pick 6 isn’t a lock for the 22 of a perennial finals side in his first year.

Depends on the draftee of course.  A #6 KPP is less likely to play than a ready made Mid.

Moniz-Wakefield will get game time due to Melksham being injured don't see a problem with recruiting Hore.

How come you couldn't find room for him ( AMW) in our first 41 then. It only needs Goody and Casey selectors to deprive him of vsludnle time on HD ground and Hire is taking up time snd space for our youngster that needs all the experience necessary.

Just a  bad policy both fir any of our young Casey players inc. AMW and Disco who you had in one of your AFL 2024 teams instead of Tommo but have changed. Age vs youth agsin .

I think he now has 3 VFL best and fairest awards, and a third place finish, in his last 4 seasons at VFL level.

So he'd be a welcome addition to Casey in terms of quality and he would - at the least - threaten AFL selection. With the departure of Hibberd, Jordan, Dunstan and Harmes, we have lost some of the depth that drives standards and potentially fills gaps.

I agree we need to make the case. But I suspect the case is pretty easy. $90k plus match payments is better than VFL payments. Plus a second life line to for an AFL career at a probable finalist is one last change to roll the dice on the dream, that was taken away by an ACL, a broken collarbone and a quad the first time.

He played 14 games in his first AFL season. Combined with consistently being the best player in his VFL team I reckon he would back himself in to be AFL capable and live that dream. And if he didn't, we wouldn't really want him on the list anyway.

He only needs to be picked in AFL team once to maybe get a premiership medal.

Most of your history  is 5 years ago! Marty is 28 and most other Dees listed players 19-25 years and spots are precious on an AFL list. It’s just a poor recruiting decision in age and position and Marty won’t replace Dunstan or Harmes or Jordan. Maybe a case for Hibbo but we are not really short of half backs. It’s forwards and match winners we need skilled finishers.

And money is not always a good guide to recruitment of players!

Hope  they reconsider this potential move.

I’d imagine even a midfield draftee needs time to learn our gameplan, particularly their role within our defensive structures.

In particular I’m reminded of hearing Dermott Brereton talk about seeing Sanders play and (paraphrasing) how his biggest “obstacle” in performing at AFL level at the moment was that he was good and he knew he was good, but some time in a good system will drill that out of him fairly comfortably. Not a criticism of the player’s ability to “make it” but rather a general comment on things that could hold back a kid early in their career.

Because Melksham is in the 18 for Casey he won't be there for at least the first half of the year so you can put a line through him and put Moniz-Wakefield in the team.

Can’t express how Happy this news made me today when I read the story on AFL website — SOOO good to have Marty back!

Was shattered for him when the Roos didn’t pick him up when he trained with them but it’s all worked out. Even avoided draft so we’d be certain to get him, what a bloody good story & I rkn he’ll get a good look in too with his foot skills, perfect third tall or 4th small etc and a lovely humble guy!

14 Games only but someone I’ve always hoped would come back & had that weird feeling he would and here he is, finally a feel good story… Let’s hope the tides turning on that front now and next is 2 Steals at the draft alongside Kynan Brown!

Our list management has been bewildering in the past 2 years.

Will see how quickly you laud Mcadam, Billings & Fullarton when MIN 2/3 they come off in a big way.. Hunter no good? Crikey the nuffies is contagious, I’m sure you’re not one but perhaps a temporary case of them I hope.. silly thing to say without context behind it mate! JT & Lamby 💯 considered BEST IN SHOW Comp wide, ask around!

We traded picks 14, 27, and 35 for pick 11, because we assumed that we wouldn't be using all the picks. Plenty of good midfielders have been drafted in the 27-35 region.

This draft is extremely shallow mate, we did right thing getting picks we have and had a crack at a generational talent and will now end up with 2 young gun needs based players so maybe entrust the guys whom built the best lost around a little more that’s all I’m saying

Hunter didn't finish in the top 10 of the BnF despite only missing 1 game. He was average. And neither did Grundy or Schache.

And what you’re proposing is TOTAL lottery even if draft was deep which it ain’t, it’s the shallowest talent wise in decades according to the peeps who’d know. Even if we pick em, it’s 200%’ore likely they’re a Blease or Tapscott than a Fyfe or Bruce

Sorry, you have no idea of the quality of the draft. We hear the same thing every year, and good players emerge from late picks and rookie picks.

Both 27 and 35 will blow out by up to 6 picks come draft night. Consensus expert opinion is the draft is super shallow. Obviously there will still be some players make it but few teams seem keen on what will probably be 33 and especially 39-41 which doesn’t have much value when we have whatever 42 will be already (and won’t use it).

So 33 and 17 for 13? Is it a great deal, maybe not, is it terrible, not if it gets us up a class in the draft.

I see the strategy being top up with some low cost 28 year olds now whilst Gawn, May, Viney have us in our window.

Next year there’s no more Brown, T Mc, Tomlinson, Melk possible Schache. The list spots and cap space open. Plenty of room for free agents and deeper draft classes.

Didn’t love Grundy but there were few better options. Same for Schache. I reckon we’ve had a shocker with getting Fullarton as the Lions upgrade with Brandon Ryan, but Fullarton can still be off use.

I don’t like the Hunter move at all. I’m 50:50 at best with Billings.

The tall oldies need to be wound up the minute they break down.

And pace has to be the focus with any future bargain buy pick ups. Give me an Oleg Markov please.

That said, I still have faith in JT and I hope he can have a blinder of a draft with 2 early picks. Nailing early picks in the draft is still the most important thing in list management.

Is Marty your brother ? Seriously gushing over a 28 yo defender who played 14 average games in a modest year.
I hope Disco gets a fair go ahead of Marty and can only see him as a break glass if broken 8th, 9th or 10th defender,

Also believe Disco  is a really nice young man as well and can play a bit.

I repeat how if you were Disco Turner would you feel with another person 5/6 years older and preventing your career from progressing. I would feel rather disheartened and wonder what in the hell the Club is playing at.

We need skilful and classy forwards to win games not a 28 yo has been back flanker who was never up yo it 3/4 years ago.

Waste of a list spot and regressive move with no real thought of how valuable a player who can win us games is to our chances. Be surprised if he plays more than 3 games and if he does we are in trouble down back.

Let’s bring back other failures who never made it like Kent, Peter Johnson and that back pocket No 3 who I can’t even think of his name.

Clint Bartram i reckon your thinking of. Anyone else you wanna bag who you can't remember.

It's a shallow draft that's why Melbourne will only be using 6 and 11. If the club thought it was deep they would have used pick 42.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
