Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Appropriate user name!

Phone me next time you're going into the surf with a dislocated shoulder and I'll bring the popcorn.

Tomorrow we will find out that the man who dislocated his shoulder jumping into the water was none other than Joel Smith.

But was Nick Riewoldt jumping on top of Joel?

I guess that all depends n whether he was going to drown  without help or not?  Swimming with a dislocated shoulder can be challenging.

I think this thread illustrates how much we are in need of a feel-good story after the battering we have been taking.

Exactly! It clearly won’t get the level of media attention that the negative MFC stories get, but it certainly should here. It’s a huge deal to save someone from drowning, and it’s far from easy. My ex was a beach lifeguard and he said the hardest thing to deal with when you’re rescuing someone who can’t swim or is in some way incapacitated is that they instinctively and reflexively try to keep their head above water by pulling down on you. People have drowned trying to rescue people in the surf. Goody’s a brave and selfless person.

If it was fly it would be front page of everything. No one wants to roll out a positive story about Goody or the Dees atm.  Doom and gloom or nothing.

Well done on doing a great deed to Goody. I’m sure he wasn’t thinking of the media response whilst he was doing his best to help this poor guy.

It seems I have upset everyone by saying "saved his life" might be a little dramatic.

So I retract and humbly apologise to all offended.

I admit the bloke would have definitely died. Painfully. Now fully recovered.

JFK performed a similar feat in WW2 near Bouganville and they made him president. So, I say, Roffey , you are out.

Despite the rising tide of venom aimed at him, Goody remains afloat. And from what I have seen, his relationship with the players remains strong. I still believe that if our stock of forwards had not been depleted at the worst possible time we would have been hard to beat in the finals. Like the board, I'm backing Goody against the media hype.

How incredibly weak would it be if we were to sack him now for no concrete reason? the media want us to fold and bow to their circus and demands.

The amount of times the filth have covered themselves up from prying eyes has been incredible over the years.

Can all be handled in house and behind closed doors.

All the media are doing now is fuelling the fire within this playing and coaching group.

I didn't require rescuing.

Don't worry though ... I survived.

No two instances are the same, Bingers. I’m glad you didn’t need rescuing and that you survived. This young man clearly did need rescuing and he’s lucky Goody was there at such a time of need.

Wait for the next vindictive installment from the usual suspects.

”A besieged Victorian AFL coach jumped off a cliff whilst in hiding from journalists  hoping to share important impartial information, on a remote Indonesian island and was fortunate enough to land near a random surfer who rescued him.”

Media struggle at the best of times to multi-task. I suspect at the moment most of their AFL resources (ie, reporters and producers) are on leave because it's the AFL "off-season". As such, they may only be able to cover one AFL story per day. And the Collingwood premiership cup engraving story would have been planned in advance to make it easy for the media to cover.

And will Damian Barrett have something good to say about Goodwin and MFC? He’s very annoying.

I basically ignore him and a number of others. It's all about looking relevant to keep their jobs.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
