McStay is a big out for the pies. I don't rate him much but he had been decent in the finals and takes a good defender. Harris Andrews should have a field day and Brisbane forwards will keep Collingwood backs accountable. Midfield battle will be interesting and could go either way. Overall Brisbane more talented and should get it done if they don't get stage fright

At least there will be a fair few lions fans there next week.

I wonder who they'll get to present the cup.

All the ex superstar lions are coaches at other clubs. Maybe Jono Brown. Collingwood no idea.

Get Mcrae to do it. He will be there anyway!

There will be more Lions fans than some think. The Pies army wont have access to anywhere near enough tickets. The Brisbane and Vic based fans will get their fill.

Literally all the thousands of neutrals at the GF will be hoping for a Pies loss.

Hopefully its a hot day .

Expecting enormous amounts of love from the cheating umpires for the Daicos bros.

I expect all media people present to get on their knees and kiss CEO Gils boots as he enters the dining room for the last time and gorge on a 5 course delight with Grange Hermitage to wash down all the prawns and oysters.

Then F off!

Dont come back.

It’s a bit early in the season, but the ladies are looking very primed

You’re right, we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. But it’s more likely than not. 😁

There’s another Grand Final being played this afternoon. The VFL decider at Ikon. And I’ll be there as a diehard Gold Coast Suns supporter, for today anyways. I’ve got my Suns cap and scarf and now I just need to learn the song. 🤭

Won't be watching. Not sure why anyone on here would. Picking up a new car then watching our 2021 finals. Will be a great day.

Agree, think it helps the Bris backs a lot not having a 3rd tall to worry about.

Go Fitzroy. Just beat those Collingwood filth.

Isn't there some rule about doubling suspension lengths for GF indiscretions?

Lol you think anyone cares about missing 8 weeks next year if you're winning a flag today?

Currently have Mrs Deever making a Maynard voo doo doll.

Do you reckon Maynard will feel a bit of a p rick?

Anyone know any Pies/bears members who can't get tickets? its all over twitter and online news, but I think they just don't understand the tickets don't come for a few days.

It's a horribly unjust system regardless. The selling of barcodes for $5.50 to members from teams that didn't even make the game seems the very definition of extortion.

This time next week one of zorko or maynard will have a medal...

Not if an asteroid smashes into the MCG At 3:30 probably a win/win

Lot of Anger on Twitter "X" from Collingwood fans who paid $1000 for Grand Final Guarantee yet did not get a ticket in the ballot. And this years ticketing charge "which it a complete ripoff" was $6 this year.

It's The Pies so who cares but Grand Final Guarantee should mean just that and the extra $6 charge should be illegal. That $6 charge is applied to the four teams in the prelims.

I take it clubs can only sell so many Grand Final Guarantees a year.

Jeez I'd love to read the fine print on that $1000 GF "guarantee". That sounds ridiculous. I'd muster a [censored], but seeing as it's Collingwood, I am all out of empathy.

From what I can gather the P3s and P2s got better seats than the P1s so maybe Ticktek did the ballot backward.

Ah, Green Day, love it :)

I love GF day - a semi religious experience which is planned, and follows the same routine each year.

Sleep in (rare these days), slow coffee and toast, then wonder whether I can be bothered watching any of the AFL breakfasts (I can't be bothered. I never watch them any more, because the new professional feel of them robs them of a great earthy quality the old North Melbourne ones used to have.)

At 11am, gather my massive amount of snacks, drinks (usually Harcourt cider, the best cider in the world)  and laptop, and begin watching all the unnecessary and repetitive rubbish. I have pies and chips for lunch.

The rest of my household are disinterested so I get to watch in in isolation, which I like. In 2021, all the family watched it together.

Will be barracking VERY strongly for the Lions. The filth winning is not an option.

From the Age

"Priority one members paid close to $1000 for a membership that guaranteed them a grand final ticket, but at least 37 of those members missed out when they selected no standing room during the registration process and then were allocated standing room tickets only in the ballot."

So they obviously oversold the guarantee in the sense that they included "standing room". No one would think that a guaranteed ticket included the possibility of standing room

Stinks to high heaven and I hope the ACCC comes down on them like a ton of bricks

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road for their 3rd interstate game in 4 weeks as they face a fit and firing Crows at Adelaide Oval. With finals now out of our grasps what are you hoping from the Dees today?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
