Everyone is fixed on a forward. Like I have said earlier, Fritsch at his best is better than any Pies forward. Pickett, ANB, Smith, JVR, Melksham as a forward line is quite potent. The Pies don't have a superstar forward line. They simply match up better structurally and work harder to get into space.

This is a strategic issue, not a player issue.

I know TMac is underdone but if you swap him for Mihocek we win that game last night.

I agree with the concept but West Coast would not give up Oscar Allen for any picks we could throw at them.  He’s their best player and they’ll mould their whole rebuild around him.

My frustration with our forward line is our inability to bring the ball to ground.  Our keys try to mark when they should spoil and bring our smalls into it.  

TMac was not fast or agile enough to make position and was too easily outmanoeuvred by Moore in the air.

Even just a big-bodied role player like McStay would have been invaluable last night.

How about we get some players that can hit a target.  Our 2 best kicks play off half back in Salem and Bowey rarely put the ball inside 50.

Langdon, Hunter, Viney, Oliver, Petracca, Gawn, Brayshaw all good players just aren't great kicks

I agree but Goodwins game plan for years has been dump it long, can you really see him changing it anytime soon? I can’t.

I'm more worried about our smalls trying to mark when they should be crumbing , kozzie the main offender.

Yes our dump kicks in suck. But we still create alot of ground balls from them that get whisked away because of our lack of crumbers

Whilst I don't disagree that we need a big focal point in the forward line, I reckon its more our forward structure and the delivery i50 that is the issue. Sure, there's been injuries, Petty, Fritter and Melk, and major form slumps, such as Kossie, but we cannot get a forward system that looks like working at all. We've been killing opposition teams for i50s for 4 or 5 years. BBB worked for a year, but his knees are now shot. 

With nearly double Collingwood's i50, we should've won by 10 goals. It's not that their backs were overly masterful, more like we had nothing to offer when it came in, it was easy to defend

IMO this has been Goodwin's major failure during his tenure, the responsibility rests with him. We've had 5 years where blind Freddy can see our forward set up isnt working. Rinse and repeat every week

We also need a few more elite ball users. Half the reason we suck in the wet is we lack composure and execution due to our average skills. We had petty going along beautifully. It’s not anyone’s fault he got injured. Our forward line got dealt a fair bit of bad luck. Every chance the gun forward we recruit does their knee or foot too

We should have done this last trade period.

Grundy for Geordaris is the only possible I can think of.

I know most people don't rate him as a goal kicker, but a player similar to Casboult would be great. I'm not saying Casboult himself (clearly past it), but someone who either clunks it or spreads a pack. Guy had really strong hands and a body big enough to bring the ball (and a few defenders) to ground.

This is, of course, assuming our strategy will continue to be what it is now.

This is the answer...plus increasing accuracy is the other. We need to maintain a 3:2 goal to behind ratio. Last night it was 1:2.

Finally the boundary line play through the two wingers has to be tempered by corridor run

IMO Checkers and McStay are much better for them than JVR and Tmac are for us

Get GC pick 4, use pick 4 and 5 for a tall and a classy mid.

Harmes, Tomlinson, Jordan and Grundy gone, McAdam comes in, bundle up picks to improve our draft positions.

Goodwin has just signed an extension, whilst he is Coach we need to get a big key forward.

Agree this is what the cats and the hawks did if want someone just do the deal full stop get McKay.

I’d have gone after Harry Jones but his injury history is as bad as most of our talls. New club might’ve helped.

No doubt we’ll call Richmond and ask on Lynch but I don’t love the odds of it happening or the odds of him staying healthy.

Need to audition some state league or delisted options over summer. Must, must have someone train for a list spot.

But classy mids and flankers are more likely and reliable predictable ball movement will incentivise the forwards to lead better and create more hit up marks.

It's much easier to defend against this 

Crowd our forward line, no space to lead into, hold up the i50 kicker. Three of our guys will fly for the mark, incl Kossie, or it will be kicked to a 1 on 3 contest.  Rinse and repeat
