This. He had no reason to leave the ground. None.

He jumped to smother the ball. It was COMPLETELY justified. That he turned the shoulder rather than holding his hands out and coming front on is something else. He’ll get off though, because they’ll argue lack of time and need to protect himself. JVR will get suspended because his eyes weren’t on the ball, and he raised his elbow. Sad, but true.

I’ll just leave this here:

Goodwin: “In finals, your vulnerabilities are exposed”

Our vulnerability is our ability to score. It’s been our vulnerability for 2 years, and we thought we could fix it with an old forward who hasn’t played AFL footy in months

We didn’t have a choice. If we had petty or melksham or both we win that. What can you do. Injuries play one of the biggest parts in winning flags as we learnt last year and are learning again now

The Collingwood fans actively cheering Maynard makes me sick. I know that’s what u should expect from Collingwood fans but please, lauding someone who knocked out Gus who himself has a history of concussion is a sickening act. Their degeneracy has sunk to a whole new low.

Because a [censored] player with form took our a guy intentionally IN A HELMET. A concussion has far worse consequences than any knee injury.
This is a guy with form. He’s done it before and he will do it again. Imagine being Gus’ poor mum!

I love your passion jaded but you should never wish an acl on a player. It’s the worst injury in sport. Cox is snide and Maynard is a peanut for sure but a players career is short. I just hope Maynard gets the ban he deserves. And I would not mind seeing a stray knee in coxs back

How does that get off if Toby Bedford gets a week. He hit him in the head, feet off the ground. That’s the end of it, surely

Whew.  Nearly got there.  The stats would say we should have won it, but the scoreboard disagrees.  First q was putrid.  We kicked ourselves out of it, those long bombs to outnumbered forwards didn’t work,  so why not try something different?

Really dislike Mason Cox.

thought the maggots were very ordinary.

gotta get there the long way…. Cmon demons!

Don't give a [censored]. I don't wish that [censored] on my own worst enemy.

Clearly never done a long term injury and the mental struggles you go through when you're trying to rehabilitate all over again.

It's a contact sport where there'll be big hits here and there. I don't like what Maynard did also but wishing him and Cox ACL injuries is disgusting.

Didn't think you'd stoop this low.

Did Bailey Laurie do anything in that final quarter?

Did nothing for 3 1/2 quarters.  Fumbled.  Could easily be delisted. Could trade him to Adelaide for Mcadam.  Easily.  Easily.

Give me a f..kin spell you Goodwin haters.  They lost it with to many missed opportunities.  The coach can’t kick it for them FFS

No, but he could've insisted we trade for a young, quality key forward over the last 5 years.

BBB was always going to be a one year wonder

Oliver’s stats on paper look pretty impressive. 31 touches, 742 metres gained and 10 tackles for negligible influence on the game. Still gets the ball but looks slow and not as decisive as he was before injured.

We have lost 3 finals in a row, potentially 4.

5 - 1 after GF day 2021.

5 - 4 today, if we lose next week... 5 - 5, with this list? 🧐

Don't know why chandlers been gifted so many.

Perhaps our biggest deficiency is the lack of quality small forwards.

None are instinctive crumbers, most lack speed and they’re not that good at applying defensive pressure. The exception is Pickett, who is inconsistent and too often wasteful.

Toby Bedford would have been a very nice keep.

And you’ve obviously never known someone who has long term health impacts from repeated head injuries.
I hope Gus makes a full recovery. Wonder how you’ll feel if he doesn’t play again.

Maynard left the ground and concussed a player,he'll get 2 and will miss the GF

Sorry but I think its line ball. He was obviously trying to spoil and not sure what else he could've done different on the way down. I hate the guy but I think he will get off.

He jumped forward more than you usually see toward Gus and then turned his shoulder. I think others would have done that very differently.

Surely this is the main point. He choose to turn and collect him with his shoulder? Isn’t the question they have been asking all season - “ how could he have avoided the contact?” By not choosing to hit him with his shoulder!! He had other options

A travesty if any of of these prognostications come to pass.  In this millenium you don't need to knock players out with your shoulder.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
