Demons tabled an attractive three-year contract offer for the 28-year-old.

WTF. THREE YEARS. He is injury prone.  50 games in 6 years at Crows.  That is poor business. Future 2nd rounder.  Ouch. Tim Lamb. 🤢🤢🤢Pants pulled down.

From memory we gave schache and laurie a contract extension and billings is on a 2 year contract

He is robbing someone else of a living. 3 year contract! Give me strength!

He looks unprepared, and unfit. Unfortunately for us, he doesn’t appear interested in applying himself either. What a waste of money.

i don't understand that apathy towards stafford at all

as forwards coach he has seen multiple players turned into key forwards, players develop to ability the go into the ruck as pinch-hitters, and fritsch has become the best medium forward in the game, with pickett one of the top five or so small forwards

that's a pretty great resume i would've thought

Look at the forwsRD LINE   and OUR scores and you’re satisfied with  Stafford, Really!!

Fair enough 58er. But I really need to make one thing crystal clear: I don’t defend everybody. It just seems that way because those people I don’t defend, I choose not to mention.

In Staffy’s case… yes, I find him a lovely, friendly person but what I think of him doesn’t matter one iota. I was just sharing what I’ve been told by those whose opinion of him does matter, ie. he’s very much loved and respected by seemingly everyone there.

Incidentally, when you say you’re thicker than I am, you do mean ‘thicker-skinned’ right? 😉

Yes WCW. The funny thing I’ve never heard totally every one who has played under Clarkson that he is a good bloke. Good coach but not good bloke.

3 biggest whipping boys at Melbourne

Schache

Billings

Mcadam

All new recruits. Wonderful from JT

Have you been on here before? You aren't that Hawk guy or the likes are you?

It’s amazing.  All of McAdam Schache Billings Hunter Laurie offer nothing.  Nothing.  They take spots off other young developing players. If it wasn’t for contracts, they’d all be delisted at seasons end.  Surely.

I think I like the Shifter Sheehan version of you better Spirit.. the one who talks up every young player as being the next Judd, Carey or Hird.

I get the anger after today, we are all are feeling it, but this prolonged keyboard warrior version coming from you tonight is exhausting.

Night 🥱

Just a little thing but seeing McAdam waving at people leaving the ground was irritating. Just get off the ground with your head bowed!

Crows fans said thank you for taking this guy of their hands, he is Casey standard at best.

Plus the mis management of Oliver's hamstring injury last year when he was up and running on on the Monday morning after coming after the game against Port doing his hammy.

The funniest one is when we randomly rushed in Charlie Spargo for round 9 against Sydney and he put in one of the all time stinkers you'll see..

Daniel Turner selection was even more mind boggling off the back of a 3 week calf injury.

BUMP THIS!!

It has been a totally topsy-turvy season for most of last year's finalists. Sydney is the only team that has played consistent footy. Collingwood is struggling, Geelong lost by a huge margin against the Suns, then another three in a row, and Brisbane is in nowhere land, so take heart Demon fans - we are not Robinson Crusoes.

Yes, we have been hamstrung by losing Brayshaw and Smith - when oh when will that suspension be clarified - and Brown, Hunter, Billing, Macadam and Fullarton have not shaped up, and neither has the injury-prone Petty. The woes extend to Casey which has hardly been able to field a full-strength team due to Emergencies being sent interstate etc and a lack of available Listed players, but in the meantime, Melbourne has played some good footy this year as well.

I haven't read most of the Woe is We stuff that has been posted: I simply note that there is a tendency among Demonlanders to always see any cup or glass as less than half full.  I also note that many here among you first stone casters, to coin a biblical phrase, seem to know much more about footy than anyone currently employed either as a coach or recruiter at the MFC. As they also say, life, and a season, is many days. Have faith and if things get awrier, then as they say in the navy, Sailor Vee...

As harsh as it sounds, Shane McAdam has been next to useless these past two matches. Incredibly frustrating watching him attempt to take unrealistic marks and generally not look even close to kicking a goal.

Would rather give Andy Moniz-Wakefield a chance.

  • 1 year later...

Somehow this fella has kept under the radar.

Touted as a 'bit of something ' ... can play... showed a little bit but then injured. Seems often injured.

You would think on his day he would add measurably to our forward 50 brigade.

Where's this bloke at ?

Seems a ghost

Another terrible trade, hopefully he can get it together and get his body right for just one year next year and add something as he does have talent

Injured for some of his first year with us and then a season ending injury this year.

I would try and do a deal on his last year of his 3 year contract with us, but it looks like he is staying.

He does have talent, if only he could get and stay fit.

Inside word was that he was brittle as glass and was very injury prone.

Poor lad does have talent though.

IF injury free, I have him down for 13 goals in 12 games next year.

Casey does need goal kickers.

I think some forget that before his achillies this year he was actually fully fit and dominating the match sim games.

Looked a completely different play compared to his first year. If he can get his body fully fit and start getting some good conditioning in then who knows.

Whilst I havent written him off, I acknowledge he is coming from a long way back now.

Hopefully a new coach like Steven King is what he needs, i think Jack Martin and Tyson Stengle are guys who've come form a long way back as well and King has worked with them so perhaps there is some wisdom he can pass on to Shane about how to just attack this because at least then he retires kinda knowing he gave it a crack

Let's make judgement in 2026

Can't judge him on 2 games in 2 seasons

It would be a very Melbourne thing for McAdam to get himself fit and playing half decent football in a contract year.

Tim Lamb will put another three year deal in front of him and he'll end up back on the LTI five minutes later.

I always remember Travis Johnstone's output in his contract years being about 10 times higher than every other year.

It's been frustrating, but I don't put him in the same category as Schache, Billings or Hunter. He's clearly highly talented and we took a punt; it hasn't paid off. I much prefer that approach to squeezing the last drops out of C+-grade known quantities at the end of their careers and then wondering why we don't improve when they come into the team.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
