Port ended doing well. they needed tall backs and Rata for 24 the Zerk. Dursma no lose as he’s been terrible the last couple of years

Do we still need another experienced ruckman as back-up for Max Gawn?

Will Tom Fullarton be enough?

I would be looking at Scott Lycett from Port Adelaide if we are looking for more back-up.

Otherwise, I think former number #1 mid season draft pick Jacob Edwards from North Melbourne is worth giving a 2nd chance to.

Hope we're in the ear of Fergus Greene who was just delisted by the Hawks.

Probably not going to revolutionise our forward 50, but showed in the first half of the year that he knows where the goals are. Injury cut his year short and the Chol + Gunston additions haven't helped his cause.

A Hawks supporting mate of mine rated him and was disappointed to see him cut

Anyone catch Gettable today? Cal was saying Dees, GC & Roos were in talks early in the FA period to swap picks. GC’s pick 5 would have gone out, Dees would have given up 6, 14 & F1, Roos throw in pick 3 & a ‘24 end of 1st rd pick (compo).

Dees would have taken pick 3 & Roos future end of 1st rd, Roos would take picks 5 & 6 & GC take home the rest for further pick swaps and bid matching.

Obviously the deal didn’t get done, but interesting that we explored trading our hand to get to pick 3 (not 1). This is all prior to Dogs locking in pick 4, so were we expressly trying land in front of Hawks (at that point heavily linked to Duursma, also like Watson)?

If the Roos remain keen, a variation of that deal could be possible if the Eagles decide to draft Reid.

Not a 2023 target, but would love for the club to land an established mid like Butters, McCluggage, Florent or Callaghan over the next year or two.

Also a key position player as required pending the status of Petty, May and Gawn.

Draft picks 6,11,42

does anybody else think 14,27,35 F2 and F3 was way overs for pick 11

Overpaid in my view

Cal’s October rankings are out. For some reason( my stupidity probably) I can’t attach the link.
He has Windsor and Leake rising up the board and Wilson slipping a bit.

We didn't pay that, it was 14, 27 and 35. We still have F2 and F3 picks.

According to Tim Lamb we're taking two picks in the draft so we're trying to get as early as possible.

I'm warming to the sound of this guy.  Tall (200cm) which might be helpful with the height of many key forwards, athletic, good contested mark / one-on-one and a reliable kick.

What's he like in terms of speed and endurance?

Melb swap 6,11, F1 for 3 and 18 (or 15/17)

That looks a bad deal for us. Effectively swapping Curtain plus #11 & F1 for Duursma plus #18. It puts a lot of value of the upgrade.

It was just 14, 27, 35 for 11.

F2 and F3 were for McAdam and Billings respectively.

We only plan to take two picks to the draft and as spots were limited they therefore could only be used to move up or into the future. If the recruiters feel there's a premium pool of players in the first dozen or so, and subsequently a drop off after that, then they've wisely traded into that premium space in my view.

Still a bit to played out anyway, our picks could still be drastically different again on draft night. We can properly break it down then.

Given Kynan Brown is likely to come in as a FS did Lamb accidentally telegraph that we wont' have 6 & 11 by draft night just something higher.

Not a great deal for us. We traded up and paid a high price to get 11 as it is, so trading it backwards again and giving up our first rounder for next year just to get from 6 to 3 seems overkill. The drwfr drops off before pick 18 too, so it's a bigger downgrade than it appears on paper.

Unless we get pick 1, then any further pick upgrades are likely fruitless IMO. The different between Duursma and Sanders isn't worth throwing away other valuable picks. I think Sanders will be the better player anyway!

I think this is where my opinion currently sits aswell.

At this stage it seems to be out of Curtin/Sanders/Watson for who is available at pick 7. Throw in a smokey in Caddy from outside that range who has grown to 193cm and is starting to look more key position height.

I would be happy with a Curtin/Sanders/Watson pick, whichever way that falls for pick 6 (7). Can't really go wrong within the first 7 in my view.

For 11, if we go a mid type at 6 I wouldn't be surprised if we try to manoeuvre up for O'Sullivan. 11 and future first for Geelongs pick 8 maybe?

If we go with Curtin at our first pick, I'd be very happy with one of Leake/Windsor.

That would work nicely … although Ollie Murphy might also come into contention at 11,12,15.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brown slides through to the Rookie draft.

Also to be determined is if we'll put Melksham on the inactive list, which I think entitles us to another selection.

Agree with all of that but think O'Sullivan might be another one we consider with our first and I’d be happy to add Wilson to the list of possible players with our second.

Agree it would take our future first to get Cats pick 8. It’s a lot to upgrade Leake, Windsor or Wilson to a Sanders or O'Sullivan.

We know JT always has his own order so I wouldn’t be surprised if Caddy, Leake or O’Sullivan go at pick 6 over Curtin or Sanders.

And especially if he’s looking elsewhere at 11. Collard, Tew Jiath or Charlie Edwards wouldn’t shock me.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
