Wasn't touched

Yes it was lol Can clearly see his fingers moved.

Said it last week. Losing Petty will cost us a flag. We are not going to kick the scores we need against quality opposition without a decent power forward.

We had our chances for a mark in that last minute, but ultimately it took a BS call to beat us.

 ROBBED.

Looking forward to burying those mugs in the finals.

Hell of a game.

Carlton can win the flag.

Score review sucks.

We looked 100 times better once Jordon was off, Hibberd went back and Smith forward similar to what the smart ones here (me) proposed all week because the overall balance was so much better.

Grundy isn’t a forward but he’s an excellent ruck and stemmed the centre clearance bleeding in the last quarter which ultimately lost us the game.

We had top two within our grasp.

I still maintain Carlton aren’t that good but they won ugly and credit to them.

Love you as ever Dees but you let that one slip.    Can't lose another one.  Lets just go for 5 straight.

Really looking forward to see If Tommy McDonald can get into some form - need an experienced tall body up forward.

Same goes for Frittata.

Calm down. We didn’t play well and almost stole it. Long way to go.

I sat behind the goals. IT WAS NOT TOUCHED

AFL loves to see this pack of wild animals make finals. Good for rating. Disgraceful.

I have major issues with Salem running into an open goal, unpressured, and not making the distance from about 42 metres. I just don't get it. Furious with that.

Great game of footy, but we were beaten at our own game and looked slow around the contest, especially at stoppages.

Insufficient evidence.   But we didn't lose it in the last minute.  We lost it the first 2 minutes of the last qtr. Gutsy loss

On paper, having Grundy in our best 22 is a dream.

In reality, it’s just not a thing.

Pretty poor last few minutes, we’re supposed to have plans for situations like that except the plan seemed to be bomb it to a pack of 20 players, have a couple of hail mary shots from 50 (ok Salem’s wasn’t that far and he should’ve kicked it, Trac was robbed but it wasn’t the right option imo) and repeat bombing it. Gotta be better than that.

Blues were good though, pressure was massive. Clarry not quite up to speed yet

1. Bad umpiring ruins our great game.
2. Carlton are the best team in the AFL as of this moment.
Just a shame it was blighted by the umpiring. It’s the AFL’s greatest shame and embarrassment.

No idea what you were looking at Dazzle. One angle showed the ball miss his hand by a fair way.

Come on Dee supporters dont give them baggers any reason to gloat. JUst nod and say see you in September. There will be lots of nashing of teeth over the last touched call. But games are won over 100 minutes not just one. Both teams were good tonight, it was a great  warm up for the finals.

Move on to the Hawks next week

Lost the battle, there is still a war to be won

Goal umpires should Know

Not I believe.

And if they don't know...they s s t h up.

Robbed.

We tackled and tackled but got one htb for our efforts compared to their six .

SWYL is very Angry

That was a goal

i HATE everything about Carlton. There is no difference between them and Collingwood

Never Forget that

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
