Just announced this morning, Kysaiah Pickett, Jake Bowey, Jacob van Rooyen and Trent Rivers were all named in the extended list of 44 for the AFLPA U/22 Squad. All these young men worthy nominations for the 2023 AFLPA U/22 Team. May their terrific contributions to the Mighty Demons continue deep into the season.

  • Demonland changed the title to 2023 22Under22 Squad

had a crack at it,

Bowey probably isnt in the side Hayden Young instead but makes it as a dee

and i probably should have gone JHF over rowell but mates rates.

weightman also was a bit of a lottery for the last forward spot, thought about Logan McDonald or OHenry but went against it.

Nic Martin the stiffest but my god that centre is strong

You forget how young these guys are sometimes ... of our 4 (McVee unlucky not to be the 5th) only JVR seems young

But the other 3 are all still very young yet are all premiership players

As @BDA mentioned above, with our draft hand this season, we've got plenty of young talent either established or coming through

The future is bright

Its a strong HB line.

Daicos deserves the merits but Hayden Young hasn't had his best year. Sheezel has been a stand out, but is that more because he is playing in a team of duds?

Rivers has been a standout in a team of stars... that has to say something to the selectors.

Selectors are the public voters online , the team is just for clicks

Rivers 100% deserves to be in that team.

Might not be the worst for him to go unnoticed or underrated hopefully it can motivate him even more.

reckon he would be top 6 in our B&F

Agree. My count is maybe 15 of this team will be watching from the stands as Riv carves it up in the finals.

He had a good grand final in 21. He'll have  great final series in 2023

Really not sure what the point of the team is.  It’s a public vote, so isn’t a real reflection of a players ability….

Surely the AFL Players Association can put together something a little bit more meaningful.

17/22

and when you take out the melbourne bias for 3 (however i definitely would have rivers in) we'll call it 20 which is pretty decent by me

2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury. LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success.

After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level.
