Deestar9 1,855 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 4 players …fantastic !! Thought McVee a little unlucky … 2 2 Quote
Tarax Club 4,189 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Just announced this morning, Kysaiah Pickett, Jake Bowey, Jacob van Rooyen and Trent Rivers were all named in the extended list of 44 for the AFLPA U/22 Squad. All these young men worthy nominations for the 2023 AFLPA U/22 Team. May their terrific contributions to the Mighty Demons continue deep into the season. 1 1 Quote
Bombay Airconditioning 6,509 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 (edited) My mate who supports the Swans kept telling me last year how young their list was but in comparison to ours….. Edited August 10, 2023 by Bombay Airconditioning Quote
Bombay Airconditioning 6,509 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 And Petty turns 23 this year if he hasn’t already done so. We have a lot of quality young talent. 1 Quote
BDA 23,048 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 And we have a great draft hand this year. pushing for a flag while having such talented youngsters in the ranks. We're in great shape for the present and future. 1 Quote

Turner 1,516 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 had a crack at it, Bowey probably isnt in the side Hayden Young instead but makes it as a dee and i probably should have gone JHF over rowell but mates rates. weightman also was a bit of a lottery for the last forward spot, thought about Logan McDonald or OHenry but went against it. Nic Martin the stiffest but my god that centre is strong 2 Quote
Macca 17,127 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 You forget how young these guys are sometimes ... of our 4 (McVee unlucky not to be the 5th) only JVR seems young But the other 3 are all still very young yet are all premiership players As @BDA mentioned above, with our draft hand this season, we've got plenty of young talent either established or coming through The future is bright 3 1 2 Quote
layzie 34,528 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 It's unfortunate but don't forget how overlooked McVee was for a RS nomination. He plays a non glamourous role and competes week in, week out. He'd need Nick Daicos possession levels to get a look in for something like this. 1 Quote
MrFreeze 2,055 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 McVee stiff but that is an unreal crop of backman. Milera my favourite non-dee of the bunch. Super fun to watch. 1 Quote
The heart beats true 18,201 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Bailey Smith over Rivers? Assume Tom Hawkins to be named captain. 🙄 2 1 Quote
ANG13 2,110 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 It’s a very strong team but Rivers very unlucky not to be named. 1 1 Quote
Demons11 7,149 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Bailey Smith is a joke! 🤣 It’s just a popularity contest 2 1 Quote
Gawndy the Great 9,011 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Its a strong HB line. Daicos deserves the merits but Hayden Young hasn't had his best year. Sheezel has been a stand out, but is that more because he is playing in a team of duds? Rivers has been a standout in a team of stars... that has to say something to the selectors. 2 Quote

Diamond_Jim 12,773 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Freo strongly represented for an underperforming team (4 players included 1 Quote

DaveyJones'sLocker 647 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 (edited) Rivers 100% deserves to be in that team. Might not be the worst for him to go unnoticed or underrated hopefully it can motivate him even more. reckon he would be top 6 in our B&F Edited August 23, 2023 by DaveyJones'sLocker 2 Quote

My count is maybe 15 of this team will be watching from the stands as Riv carves it up in the finals. He had a good grand final in 21. He'll have great final series in 2023 2 Quote
TeamPlayedFine39 8,525 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Really not sure what the point of the team is. It’s a public vote, so isn’t a real reflection of a players ability…. Surely the AFL Players Association can put together something a little bit more meaningful. 2 Quote

Nic Martin the stiffest but my god that centre is strong 17/22 and when you take out the melbourne bias for 3 (however i definitely would have rivers in) we'll call it 20 which is pretty decent by me Quote
leave it to deever 17,618 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 I take back any criticism I may have had towards Kozzie. He's still developing. 1 Quote
