It’s Game Day and the Demons have a massive opportunity to propel themselves into 2nd place on the ladder with a big win over the Kangaroos today.Β

Apologies to @McQueen and anyone else who posted in the other GameDay Thread as I was trying to merge the thread I pressed the wrong button and deleted the other thread. Sorry πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. It's my first day.

Hopefully they have learnt from the Pies/Hawks game and won’t be going at anything less than 100%

Big day. Depending on results, we could push up to 2nd spot. Β Absolutely must win and win by 40+. Β

3 tough weeks to come with resurgent Blues, emerging Hawks and Swans in Sydney. Β

ο»ΏNo - it won’t be as easy as last time. The mindset and makeup of both teams has changed over the past few months but we do know that the team can get the job done by applying itself in the same way it has done over the past month. A good win could well see us in second place on the ladder, with a top four place all but guaranteed, some challenging games to keep us focused ahead of the finals and some handy players to return to the side.

What more could you want at this time of the year?

The booth at the wharf no longer sell ferry tix to the game. Called up the operator and they didn’t know either! Said there’s supposed to be a couple of crossing before and after the game and it was free if you have a game day ticket. Couldn’t tell me any times though so none the wiser really. Will probably get a cab.Β

Petty, Melk and JvR to combine for at least 10 and I will be very happy, add a Max outside 50 bomb and I shall be ecstatic .

Go dees, put the afl on notice. Send Clarkson off on stress leave again. Blow em out of the water with a 15 goal 1st Q.

Β

The back end of this season has become incredibly interesting. Β results like the hawks and blues in the last few rounds make our run home a little harder than we perhaps might have thought - but that could be good for us. Β RIchmond fell in a heap on Friday Night, so that may happen to the other cellar dwellers we now come up against.

It all comes down to what we do. Β Play our game and do the right things and we will build nicely into the finals. Β

I hate playing in Hobart, so many [censored] memories from recent years, when we would drop games we should have won.

Not today, Β I think we take them apart early and hold them off from there. Β 48 points to the good. Β Go dees.

Somebody said in the Pregame thread that the ferries would be leaving from 11.15 am, hope that helps! They also said it would be free if you had a ticket etc

Win Β , then a decent win Β , and no injuries thats alll I ask

Weather forecast says no rain, top of 15 degrees (but will feel like 11 degrees).Β  Apparently a bit windy but then will ease off in the early afternoon... hopefully just right for us then!

Just read OP and now I understand !

Β I shall repost ( rather than riposte ) my previous confidence.

Just because there has been a number of very odd results recently - it means nothing to what the Dees will do today and we shall not suffer the fate of other recent favourites.

The only matter that concerned me was the possibility of ****ty Taswegian weather evening things out somewhat Β but @DeelightfulPlayΒ 's post above has reassured me!

I confidently predict a 60 point win.

Clarko’s 400th game as coach, regardless we have chosen not to rest anyone . The players and coaching staff are fully aware of what’s at stake. Looking for a strong start, need to put them away early then completely run over the top of them. The Lions specialise in these types of games.Β

This is becoming a danger game. Clarkson's comments this week about his team is something I have never heard him say before. We have to start fast and not give them any chance of a sniff.Β

We got a TTC - turned the corner got an RHG - red hot go, we got an OTFG - Open the floodgatesΒ

What did he say?

The talk about his team not being good enough etc very unlike Clarkson, `I've never heard him talk his team down like that.Β

Β  "We know we're still nowhere nearΒ good enoughΒ to compete with the really strong clubs in the competition"Β Β

I hope after yesterday’s results, Goody has reminded the players you can’t take any opposition lightly. West Coast almost and then the Hawks. Blow them away early and put it to bed.

Wouldn't get a kite airborne down here at the moment, hope it stays that way.

Perhaps he is setting it up for a loss that North would benefit from far more than a win.Β
West Coast are closing in. They are unlikely to pick Reid so North can absolutely sweep on pick one. Not to mention cry to the AFL for more handouts.Β
Beat a top 4 side and suddenly it’s not all doom and gloom and Clarko can’t go asking for more.Β

With heads in the right place from the get-go, we will win by 7+ goals. Β Heads in the wrong place, then anything could happen in this crazy football season.

Β

At work until about 12 then heading to the game. Hopefully get a pint in at the Waterfront first (finding a parking spot pending) then Bay 20 in the Boon stand. Might try to sneak into the Ponting as they serve full strength beer in the upper level bars.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.Β  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.Β  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.Β  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.Β

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
