GAMEDAY: Rd 21 VS North Melbourne

Demonland

Recommended Posts

It’s Game Day and the Demons have a massive opportunity to propel themselves into 2nd place on the ladder with a big win over the Kangaroos today.

Apologies to @McQueen and anyone else who posted in the other GameDay Thread as I was trying to merge the thread I pressed the wrong button and deleted the other thread. Sorry 🤷‍♂️. It's my first day.

  • Demonland changed the title to GAMEDAY: Rd 21 VS North Melbourne

No - it won’t be as easy as last time. The mindset and makeup of both teams has changed over the past few months but we do know that the team can get the job done by applying itself in the same way it has done over the past month. A good win could well see us in second place on the ladder, with a top four place all but guaranteed, some challenging games to keep us focused ahead of the finals and some handy players to return to the side.

What more could you want at this time of the year?

The booth at the wharf no longer sell ferry tix to the game. Called up the operator and they didn’t know either! Said there’s supposed to be a couple of crossing before and after the game and it was free if you have a game day ticket. Couldn’t tell me any times though so none the wiser really. Will probably get a cab.

The back end of this season has become incredibly interesting.  results like the hawks and blues in the last few rounds make our run home a little harder than we perhaps might have thought - but that could be good for us.  RIchmond fell in a heap on Friday Night, so that may happen to the other cellar dwellers we now come up against.

It all comes down to what we do.  Play our game and do the right things and we will build nicely into the finals.

I hate playing in Hobart, so many [censored] memories from recent years, when we would drop games we should have won.

Not today,  I think we take them apart early and hold them off from there.  48 points to the good.  Go dees.

Somebody said in the Pregame thread that the ferries would be leaving from 11.15 am, hope that helps! They also said it would be free if you had a ticket etc

Just read OP and now I understand !

I shall repost ( rather than riposte ) my previous confidence.

Just because there has been a number of very odd results recently - it means nothing to what the Dees will do today and we shall not suffer the fate of other recent favourites.

The only matter that concerned me was the possibility of ****ty Taswegian weather evening things out somewhat  but @DeelightfulPlay 's post above has reassured me!

I confidently predict a 60 point win.

Clarko’s 400th game as coach, regardless we have chosen not to rest anyone . The players and coaching staff are fully aware of what’s at stake. Looking for a strong start, need to put them away early then completely run over the top of them. The Lions specialise in these types of games.

This is becoming a danger game. Clarkson's comments this week about his team is something I have never heard him say before. We have to start fast and not give them any chance of a sniff.

What did he say?

The talk about his team not being good enough etc very unlike Clarkson, `I've never heard him talk his team down like that.

"We know we're still nowhere near good enough to compete with the really strong clubs in the competition"

Perhaps he is setting it up for a loss that North would benefit from far more than a win.
West Coast are closing in. They are unlikely to pick Reid so North can absolutely sweep on pick one. Not to mention cry to the AFL for more handouts.
Beat a top 4 side and suddenly it’s not all doom and gloom and Clarko can’t go asking for more.

With heads in the right place from the get-go, we will win by 7+ goals.  Heads in the wrong place, then anything could happen in this crazy football season.

@Rab D Nesbitt

There's information and crossing times on the Derwent Ferries website:

At work until about 12 then heading to the game. Hopefully get a pint in at the Waterfront first (finding a parking spot pending) then Bay 20 in the Boon stand. Might try to sneak into the Ponting as they serve full strength beer in the upper level bars.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
