The Crows definitely have what it takes to push good sides to the limit.

Win is a win. Im happy enough. We're still tinkering to find the right mix but still winning too.

Not with the attitude we won't :), I don't think there really is a clear fav. All top 4 have beaten and lost the other top 4

This is a tough competition. We should always be happy with a win.

If you are happy with giving up a very good lead in the last, then I'm pleased for your distorted maths

I find a come from behind win against a top 3 side more inspiring than nearly giving up a 4 goal lead into the last against a bottom 8 team.

That's my preferred maths!

We don’t have the backline or midfield either.

I mean, we have the backline talent but they don’t play like it under pressure.

We don’t have answers with the midfield. Clarry and Tracc back in will help but we at least one, maybe 2 skilled running players

The Crows are a good young side with a lot of raw talent, capable of turning it on and especially when their season is on the line. No shame in a tight win, a lot better than a close loss. 

 

Burgess is being  praised for having the Crows in peak condition.

Does his methods allow for any goal kicking?

Where did I say I was happy giving up that fourth quarter lead? In fact, I said the opposite. 

Where I’ve engaged with you is in relation to your argument that close wins are worse when you lead first then get clawed back as compared to the other way around. I don’t agree with that.

I think there were some really good clutch moments in that game for us, like Gus’ smother and ANB’s trap and tackle against 2 crows which would have been a certain goal. Good, desperate stuff. Thought ANB was good today.

As their coach Mr Nicks pointed out post game, they thought they had our measure for much of the game: in other words, it's not always about feet and gas, it usually involves the level of commitment and competence of the opposition. We won a tightly contested game. As we did last week, as most good sides do. The other factor is that in the games we've lost the margins were shall we say rather slim...

The biggest positive of today's game was our small forwards. Pickett looked very threatening and it was great to see Chandler get his confidence back.

It often amazes me how 'Chin' Chandler finds so much space in our forward 50 at times.

Is it because the opposition don't give home enough respect (which I find hard to fathom given his impact this year when he's on) or that he has such a great tank and work rate?

Or a bit of a combination of both?

I do also think his inclusion in the side stretches the attention the opposition can dedicate to Kossie in a way that Spargo doesn't right at the moment.

I think Jack was just buggered. He put in a huge shift today. So much so that he couldn't go with Smith for one of those last goals.

My thoughts:

- Glad to take the win: as supporters, we have to get over hoping that each game is going to be like the 2021 GF.

- Adelaide are a good team, no mistake. Their field kicking and marking was first rate. No doubt they’ll be at the pointy end soon.

- We desperately need some quality kicks in our front half.

- Tommo was great today, Maysie was poor, looks hampered still.

- Kozzie is finding form: some of his work today was sublime.

- Poor BBB looks cooked.

- Viney is having his best season.

- I’d give Hunter a spell at Casey - his distribution has been pretty poor recently, especially as we recruited him for i50 delivery.

- Some very ordinary umpiring decisions in that last quarter.

- Glad to have shut up an increasingly obnoxious Crows fan next to us on 2A, who was getter louder with each drink 😂

Well done Dees - not perfect, but another win chalked off. We stayed the course.

Don't know if anyone else in this thread has mentioned it, but we had one single tackle inside our forward 50. Not good.

1st 3 quarters they were a non factor. Last quarter 1 questionable 50, 2 soft frees resulting directly in a scoring chain, 2 of  which were part of a 3 goal scoring block is poor no matter what the balance of the game is.

Crows picked through our zone with ease at times and seemed to match us in the contest (particularly centre contests) although I haven't seen the stats. They're a decent side and have Burgess who would be priming them for this time if year so no surprise they came home strong. Don't forget the Pies only just got past them, twice. Having said that if it wasn't for Rankine we probably would have put them away before half time.

I thought JJ needed to be better, it doesn't feel like he's really grabbed the opportunity having Oliver out has been. He's been ok without being outstanding. When Oliver returns I think JJ is first dropped. Woewodin has been ok for a first year player but I don't think he'll stay in the seniors much longer either. Hibberd should return nd help out backline with some leg speed.
