What round did Jake Bowey come in during 2021?   Woey Bowey has a rhythm to it.

Certainly very versatile substitute option but may have earned a full game next week.

He won 7 in a row including finals so say Rd 18-19?

I'm sure it's been said numerous times all ready, but "HOW [censored] GOOD IS JAKE MELKSHAM!!!"

Love this bloke.  He certainly had his moments tonight - both bad and VERY VERY good ones, but overall, I love the way he attacked the contest and took on the game by foot.

Not gone yet Jakey boy.  ❤💙💙💙

Hope we can get him a flag for 7 years of service for the club as it might be his final year

Won us a game against Carlton last year and again tonight.

Also the argument that Gawn isn’t a generational ruckman and the best in the game needs to end. He is a giant of a man and tonight he showed us why he is the best ruckman in the competition hands down.

Best win since '21 GF.

Grundy stays in the vfl. Trade him if possible.
Kozi remains further up the field. Running back towards goal he just looks so lethal.
Trac phenomenal. how many 4 goal, 26+ touch players are there in the league? Worth every cent of the $1mil he makes.
Gawn just huge. The opposition just cannot compete with that kind of dominance.
loved Rivers at the end. one on one wins and driving his legs and moving the game forward.

If we're going to be serious at the end of the year we need to keep competing like this. Loved it.

My take - not that it matters much - we started on fire but could not maintain it  as Lions took control. Quarters 2 and particular 3 were pathetic. I mean shocking ala 2020 style - lost and seemingly not interested.

4th quarter was the Melbourne we all love. We took the game on and were able to score. Goody needs to give the boys more freedom and allow them to play like this. It’s harder to defend and we will concede some score but the forwards were bought into the game.

Unbelievable win, our leaders were huge.
Gawns game was great, Melksham’s couple of marks and goals were seriously clutch. I know Rivers can turn it over but I just love the way he takes the game on. I also can’t believe how good Judd McVee is, the composure he has for such a young player is amazing.
What a start to the weekend.

Max was a mountain all night. I only fear for his longevity in the game as his body has been taking an absolute beating (illegally so) for the majority of his career.

Men with guns came running I was screaming so loud, (they thought they had an active shooter inside the wire) here in Baidoa, Somalia.

We are 4-4 against top 4. Media commentators GAGF, nothing being taken for granted by Melbourne players, we were cooked more than a Chiko roll in a Frankston Fish&Chip shop and did not give up.

I am sorry Jake.

Can the haters say sorry to Goodwin, he’s changed things, tried things, and obviously has more of clue than the numb nuts on this forum. We are a team, two of the best mids in club history come out of the center, in goes Angus, Jordan, Pickett, and Sparrow to get the job done. People need to acknowledge that our club trains kids well and is lead by a first class coach.

Viney is my personal Jesus, Oscar 206cm, 110kg stripped by Jack 178cm, 84kg, another entry for the JV made me cry.

Trac, OMG, boomshakalaka, finding ways to will himself back into the game.

Joel Smith is the sub.

Still Woewodin, looks like he belongs.

…loving Jonathan Brown crack it on FNF.

Also my comments would have been the same had we lost by 1-18pts, the effort was there. Brisbane should have won, they lost their heads and started going down the line instead of taking the game on. Which was the way we smashed them early.

McVee was silk again.

More to say, after a rewatch.

Think we are all shell shocked.

Didnt look a chance. Brisbane stopped, we took advantage of it.

Liked the 1 ruckman set up. Max played well solo.

Still think we are too slow.

But well done boys 👍👍👍

Was surprised that they tried to save the game instead of taking it on but it was good to see us keep pushing to the end.

We can use Grundy when Max retires, Use Grundy as a Fwd/Ruck support.

Still in shock but boy am I going to enjoy this weekend.

Just listened to the last two minutes of the Triple M call and Luke Darcy, for the first time ever, was all over Melbourne. Nice change to hear some support from media commentators.

I think he still prefer him up forward.

But when he came on he made our backline much more assured then Petry did.

Petty needs a few weeks spell.

Up forward or down back, his strength marking and pace are such assets.

I agree that I like him up forward too, but tonight, Kossie, Trac, Melksham, Brown & Co got the goods in the end, although it didn't look all that pretty at times.

Actually thought BBB has been decient and helped our structure and ball movement up there since he's been back

Trac was harassed all night, often illegally, but he stood up and took them on. What a star. What a game.

Was being held and scragged all night by that scum bag Starsevich.

We're like an amateur golfer, we finally figured out how to hit straight off the tee but we lost all semblance of a short game.

It's hopefully coming soon but when our defence is on, our midfield is firing and the forward line is converting and accurate, we're gonna take some serious stopping.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
