The top sides keep getting the job done which makes it even more upsetting that we lost.

I hate Michael Long. I've never forgiven him for his brutal assault on Troy Simmonds in the 2000 GF.

Yep and everyone going oh what a great hit.

Interesting. Last night a Port Player did not leave the field though the interchange gate. Someone posted the footage and asked the question last night.

L AWS OF AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL 2022 25PART C
7. INTERCHANGE
7.1 INTERCHANGE STEWARD – APPOINTMENT AND DUTIES
A Controlling Body may appoint two Interchange Stewards to officiate during
a Match. The Interchange Stewards shall:
(a) be positioned throughout the Match at or near the Interchange Area;
(b) monitor and approve the interchange of Players made by each Team
during a Match; and
(c) report to the field Umpire any infringement by a Team of this Law 7.
7.2 PROCEDURE FOR INTERCHANGE
The following procedure shall apply to the interchange of Players during
a Match who are listed on the Team Sheet:
(a) unless Law 7.3 applies, the Players intending to interchange shall leave
and enter the Playing Surface through the Interchange Area;
(b) where a Player does not leave or enter the Playing Surface as specified under
Law 7.2(a), the Interchange Steward shall report the breach to a field Umpire
and the following shall apply:
(i) the field Umpire shall stop play at the first available opportunity;
(ii) a field Umpire shall award a Free Kick to the nearest Player of the
opposing Team; and
(iii) a Fifty Metre Penalty shall then be imposed from the position where the
Free Kick was awarded. For the avoidance of doubt, Law 7.2 operates
in conjunction with Law 5.5 where a Team has more than the permitted
number of Players on the Playing Surface

No Idea if a law has been breached here but here's the link.

I reckon the big non MFC story this weekend is Geelong.

In order to make top 4 they’ll probably need to go 11-2 with major tasks against Dogs at Marvel, Port at AO, Brisbane at the GABBA, Collingwood at the G and (to a lesser extent) us at GHMBA.

I think they’ve lost too many games to be considered a flag chance.

Current Ladbrokes odds

I was channeling the great 'Chief' in get Smart.   We're not just favourites they have us as almost certainties.

If the Hawks lose today against the Eagles in Tasmania, the tank is well and truly on - if it wasn’t already.

So apparently the benches get warned when you have 10 rotations to go 5 to go etc.

Dean rampe sitting on the bench was aware of it and jumped up straight away

I agree but current market odds have them 4th in line for the flag. Crazy.

Today's Hawthorn v West Coast game will answer the ancient question;

"Can an entire team be penalised for insufficient intent?"

Infringing a mark from behind, is this day's curly rule of the Round.........COX to get three Frees

1 hour ago, whatwhat say what said:

north had TWO interchanges over the limit

they REALLY didn't wanna win that game

TANK HARD

The League has since confirmed to AFL.com.au that North Melbourne officials had been required to void the initial interchange breach, leading to Tom Powell returning to the bench after McLean's goal.

They were unlucky that the infringement was given when the ball was in Sydney's forward line. In Sydney's back line it might have been a different result.

Good grief if that is true.  If they can warn you when you have 5 to go etc, why can't they tell you "No More" as well.   And we wouldn't have a game decided in such a stupid way.

Did anyone know the penalty for an interchange was a free kick and 50m penalty in the worst area on the ground possible?

West Coast are putrid. Melbourne 2012-2014 level putrid.

Apparently the indigenous name for West Coast is Boorloo.

At least we know what the “loo” part stands for.

At home games, their fans just go  with the first three letters.

How I long for the day when Geelong are West Coast levels of bad.

In actual fact, they are rewarded. (with draft picks)

The big Karrinyup shopping centre in Perth near my home is extremely busy today. Traffic everywhere, car park full and cars parked on verges risking fines. No one is home watching the WC game today and going for retail therapy instead.

Hardly seems fair that Harley Reid should be punished.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

    With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

    Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • REPORT: Richmond

    Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • VOTES: Richmond

    Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

    It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
