6 - Kade Chandler - an elite, all-Australian-standard interpretation of his role.  Incredible attitude and a technically flawless performance.

5. Christian Petracca - will be the consensus BOG and an outstanding performance.

4. Clayton Oliver - an incredible player.

3. Angus Brayshaw - back to his best.

2. Kysaiah Kropinyeri-Pickett - a very good Pickett game.

1. Bayley Fritsch - deadly in front of goal when the result was in the balance.

1. Fritta,

Unlucky: Grundy, May, ANB.

6 Petracca - totally dominant in every aspect of play.

5 Chandler - how will Spargo get his spot back now?

4 Grundy - silenced the doubters about his all-round game.

3 Oliver - ran the show in midfield but wasn't the opposition woeful?

2 Pickett - some magic moments, especially in the first half.

1 Take your pick, but I'd go for Steven May. Shook off recent struggles and even got cranky when North notched their late goals.

Petracca

Langdon

Grundy

Chandler

Oliver

Apologies to 4-5 others

6 Petracca: complete performance today as an attacking midfielder

5 Chandler: Unbelievable forwards game, the running of Pickett with truly elite kicking and decision making

4 Oliver: complete box-to-box midfielders game. Extracts and wins our ball all day.

3 Brayshaw: a giant turning defence into offence. Intercept game was so strong that, really turned it on for his 150.

2 Pickett: the spark threat lit the fire early.

1 Hunter: could have gone to a few others but not only did he run hard and hold our structure but he used it very well.

Apologies to Grundy (great in the ruck, marking improved), May (back to his best), Bowey and Rivers, Landon, Viney, Sparrow, Fritsch, and ANB, amongst others.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
