Was at Schwartzy's pub in the GF wake in 2000. 2 things I remember vividly

1. The bar tab ran while Neil Daniher was at the bar and he had pay for a round of about 10 drinks. 5 seconds later Schwartz had restarted the tab.

2. Danners was that dirty with the tactics of targeting our kids (Brad Green very lucky he can actually speak and troy Simmons amazingly still has his head attached!) - He made it very clear that he would never step foot in Windy Hill again. (was a tad disappointed when the danners brothers all got back together for a bombers game - actually felt a bit sick by it. )

You might end up turning into a Collingwood supporter. I’d advise against it.

I had thought of this also, but realised I'd still be the smartest filth supporter in the entire world.

Up till now WCW, I thought by Demonland standards you were quite a well adjusted human! We'll win by six goals but it's just for the record it's only a game!

I had you fooled then. 😂

Although, before joining Demonland I was quite a well-adjusted human. Now I’m a maladjusted human just like pretty much everyone else here. 🙃😑😝

PS: when playing against that repugnant team of grubs it’s not just a game!

Most hated team.  Their supporters, who always seemed to number more than necessary whilst growing up during the 80s and 90s, were smug and nasty.  We havent given them a proper smashing in decades.  This is the time. Their tails are slightly up, there's a glimmer of belief that this season and their team might be ok.  I hope we belt them by 15 goals in biblical rain.

Along with Hawthorn supporters, Essendon have some of the most arrogant and I actually can't stand many supporters of these teams more so than Collingwood.

The Kevin Sheedy is the GOAT of coaches you'd get from your average Essendon supporter back in the day, and probably even still now is both sickening and crindgewothy.

Most Essendon supporters I know now are fairly sedated and resigned to the fact that thier current team are fairly average to below par, which puts me in a very happy place.  Hopefully they'll eventually get to a position of despiration and despair that they will ever have a competitive team again, if they aren't actually already there.

DON’T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!!!

I’m enraged at the mere mention of that club. I can hear myself one day in the future saying, “But Your Honour, I had to kill him, he was an Essendon supporter!”

A reminder of how much I hate Essendon: every week I place a bet AGAINST the Dees, regardless of the odds (which I don’t really understand anyways). My reason is because if we win, fantastic! But if we lose, the $ cushions the blow a little. It’s only ever a $10-$20 bet… except for when it’s vs Essendon. Last year, round three, I lost $100 but skipped home from the ‘G happy as a pig in [censored]. I’ve put $100 on them again for this week. And the car trip home from Adelaide will be so sweet despite me being $100 poorer. THAT’S how much I detest this pack of uncultured cretins.

PS a few shock losses have resulted in decent “wins.” When this happens I make a donation to Reach (forever in my heart, Jimmy 💕). It turns dirty money into clean.

Are you sure you're okay?

They should be. Or maybe unfairly might be better.

That Michael Long incident was far worse than the Neil Sache- Kevin 0Keefe incident back in 1974 which left Sache a paraplegic. There was no intent by Okeefe whereas that piece of trash Long had 100% intent. I cant remember the dees player name but it was a miracle he didnt snap his neck.  Melbourne should have fought back and played dirty but they didnt. We're not like Hawthorn thats why we never won flags.

Troy simmonds.

They were thugs that day. Completely unnecessary too as they were the better side (ew).

But this incident is why they should have red cards like they do in suburban footy. Theres nothing to stop a team just going filthy on grand final day, getting a win due to 2 or 3 injured opponents and then having the first month off the next year - but who cares cos you've got the cup already.

It will happen again and when it does send offs will be introduced.

She might be a seriously deranged lady (whom we all love), but I really object at calling her a banana. You just cannot go around insulting bananas  WCW like that. She’s a lady, please show her some respect.

Never in the history of 'Calm Down' has anyone being told to 'Calm Down' actually Calmed Down.

Just sayin....

Not my finest hour, but I admit my mind drifted to such tactics in the long nervous lead-up to the GF in 2021. It was my over-riding memory of how Essendon won in 2000 (i.e., beat up our kids). Now, of course, I realise they were always going to win, which only made their tactics more reprehensible. And in a less desperate state of mind, I'm very glad we didn't resort to that in '21...although I know Viney for one was keen on a first bounce 'statement'.

At the very least, Grand Final suspensions should be triple points, like double points for driving offenses on public holidays.

Ironically, it was the opposite. Long got 4 matches of which 3 were served through the preseason. Wallis got 3 weeks and was playing round 1, 2001.

Long would be getting 12 weeks for that now.  Iirc, he apologised at the time but it wasnt accepted by Simmonds.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
