Sorry all, don’t mind my likes and laugh emojis / reactions to posts on this thread from back in 2022. They were funny! And seemingly still current…(I thought they were!)

Or they are simply  not senior AFL level talents 58er. IMO they fall into the group of too good at vfl level NQR at senior level.

Well OD you still are writing off YOUNG players OFF too early in their career. You expect players never to be given opportunities in other positions or are so impatient for success for some.

Joe many of our current players have you written OFF ?

About 25/20!!

Will never make it

Ate not AFL standard after 5/6 games !!

Doesn’t show  any thing to be a senior player ( after less than 10 games)

Players need encouragement and time and patience and you don’t want to give them that.

Yes we can make predictions but unrealistic chance of a fair go is not the answer.
2/3/4years is often necessary for proper player development.

Far too negative and rushed with your opinions for an AFL Club yo develop it’s list.Msybe we need to trade a bit more fit ready made stars!!

From the club website today, confirmed hand fracture and had surgery today. Expected return TBA

Has him down at 1 - 2 weeks PF, a good result

I hear what ya saying 58.

I will offer a caveat on ODs behalf . I know for a fact he has watched many a Magoo Match. I'd be very surprised if he was writing anyone off without considerable thought.

JVR looks like he belongs out there....but he's  still raw.  I too am not convinced Jeffo is going to develop a lot further.  But as you rightly suggest... he's young.

I'm not.... I can remember when Neeta first came on the scene, Ox too.   They showed something special.  Jeffo..  😒 🤔

Obviously time will tell

So many different types of “hand fracture” - if that is all we get to know, could be anything from 2 - 10 weeks. 😩

No worries.

Always good to be reminded how funny I am.

I can’t see him making it due to lack of effort unfortunately. He was a passenger yesterday.

Agree 100% FT. He just doesn't show intent. Another Weid. In fact Weid was way better IMO.

I think he’s shaping up to be a bust. It was a pretty ordinary draft though. Some players around MJ’s range have been delisted or traded already. Our other option was Ed Allan who looks OK but certainly no world beater. In hindsight, we probably should have traded the pick.

Weid would be serviceable in our forward line this year.

At least he can take a contested mark unlike JVR and Jeffo.

I am a supporter of Jeffo, though not as fanatical as his number 1 fan Picket Fence.

I must admit I am getting a little concerned. If he gets another chance he needs to take it.

A young raw key position forward.  Jefferson takes some good marks and has a simple kicking technique.  He drops a few as well and looked awkward in his second efforts.  Like a young Max King is how I’d describe Jefferson.  We need to be patient.  He needs lots of protein shakes, gym work for 3 years and a determination to succeed.
Drafting young key forwards is a risky choice.  From Cook to Weideman to Hulett, we’ve not been successful.  Yet with BBB on one leg and Tmcd on the other side of 30, the outlook for a future of a “JVR and Jefferson” combo is the opportunity that ultimately looked the deciding motivation for JT.

@dazzledavey36 not sure that the demonlanders were convinced with JTs selection back in the 2022 draft. I’m still giving Jeffo some time (I think he needs to go back to Casey for a block of games 6-7) before we give him another go. Your prediction of Jeffo being “more of a 3rd forward type in the mould of Jack Watts” is closer to the mark.

Another Timid Key Forward

It’s just so obvious that Goodwin and his Coaching staff do not regard the forward 50 as being very important

It’s all about Contest and Defence, attacking the goals to Simon is Kick and Hope

We cannot keep going down this road

The Squad is completely stuffed by 3/4 time

This style of play has been evident since 2021

How many times in the last 4-5 years have we had games where we Dominated the Stats sheet, but lost badly on the Scoreboard (kicking 8.15 or something similar)

It must be stopped…..

there's nothing about his game that indicates he'll make it at afl level

Hate to pot a young player, but i think it’s true. year 3 now and looking like year 1

We can put down the glasses he is average at Casey most weeks. Will be gone at the end of contract.

Jeffo is contracted until the end of 2026 and is 21 years old. Like some I'm not sure if he'll make it as a senior footballer but I wonder if we're conflating our urgent need for key forward with the speed of his development. It didn't happen for Max until he was 24 years of age.

Absolutely thrown to the wolves and Goodwin and his team need to explain the rationale for his inclusion on the weekend after minimal form and injury he is plucked from obscurity to play. Well it reeks of desperation because in the end, they have set him up for failure. If he is dropped as expected his confidence will be shot to the shizzen and I will be very angry. The ONLY salvation is if they have come to the conclusion that come whatever may, form or no form play him for weeks and see what he can do. If he plays this week I will be mildly surprised but expecting the knee [censored] reaction and he plays at Casey. Fritsch and Van Rooyen will somehow survive. As I suggested they have potentially set him up for failure!

He’s in his 3rd season, he’s not a baby anymore, at some point you’ve got to see what you’ve got

Josh Weddle was also still available when we took Jeffo.

Jeffo is still finding his way. 3rd year in for a skinny kid still developing with body as a KPF should be given more time. He may be a bust, he may turn out ok.

He does ok at VFL and will develop more. he was always going to take time.,
