Two words:

Destination. Club.

In this case we are the 'Love Schache'

Schache kicked 27 goals in his last 7 VFL games including bags of 7,7 and 5. As a last spot low cost cover who could fill multiple roles if required I have heard worse ideas if Weid is traded out.

he'll be coming into a side that lost one game for the entire year!

this is casey's tom lynch / jeremy cameron moment

Can you elaborate? Was it just some random caller?

Just a passing comment from Julian De Stoop in reference to Sam Edmund’s news that we’re looking at Schache.

The only negative thing about Schache is he is no good at footy

Is this the chap who is mates with Clarrie?

Yes

If we trade Weid it's worth a crack.

There's no other half decent key position players available and we've already said we are only using 2 draft picks plus I assume upgrading Chandler to the primary list.

I'm also all for getting Hunter if it means we can delist Baker, he is horrid.

I’m in on it I was keen on him as an under 18 and he has only just turned 25 I don’t mind it

I don't think what I said was anything everyone isn't thinking....

Even at VFL level he looks ordinary.

It follows then that if everyone is thinking it, you don't need to say it.  Aint the internet grand!

Exit Weid.

Enter Schache.

The world get [censored] sillier everyday!!!!!

Sounds like It's a net zero. Casey will soon find out. He did have a few good games back but given Bulldogs lack in that area not sure he could slot in to free up Petty to go forward? Beverage seems to have his favorites so could be he was more deserving of a have than others. I'm not against it particularly if it costs us same or less than we get for Weideman

Only time will tell I suppose but I won't be betting my lefty on him becoming a regular AFL feature.

Fills an obvious need if the Weid departs. DL whipping boy!

Lachie Hunter no hope to come to the Dees then?

He was spotted at the Best and Fairest after party any truth to this?

We owe it to Weid to let him explore his oportunities at the dons where he likely gets more looks in and schache can play the mb38 role for a year or two until the big fish lands

Just there for the free booze perhaps?

I don't have an issue with Sache as cheap back filler. Essentially a Mitch Brown replacement. I just don't know why you'd trade Weideman for peanuts only to end up with an equally underwhelming option.

Unless we think Weideman will leave next year and we will get even less than third round pick for him perhaps?

Would prefer we take a chance on Jackson Callow.

But if Clayton Oliver can teach his old mate Josh Schache a bit of "mongrel" then I am not against this option as a potential replacement for Sam Weideman.

Anyway, let's see if Sam Weideman ends up at the Bombers first.

I think he would be a good fit for us. Chocco is great at developing players and the attitude of our boys is incredibly professional, whereas a lot of the bulldogs players seem to be about that party lifestyle.

If he would only cost us a late 3rd or late 4th round pick then why the heck not.

Schache used to go to the school I worked at. He was not known for having a team first attitude. Was known for being a bit self involved.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
