All we are saying is give the Rooy a chance....

(You know you are trying to sing this now 😁)

And with that, Brisbane went from $3.15 to $3.45. Go figure that out

If we're going to win the lot then this is the team that will do it (Unless TMAC can get up to speed quickly). The Lions are our bunnies so best to leave the team unchanged and hope we find some form.

And irrespective of whether changes warranted our not we will beat the Lions

Man, so boring. Don't tease me with JVR like that and then give me nothing, Goody.

It's enough to make me miss the old shuffling the deck chairs era.

Our forward line is so uninspiring. It’s hard to see us going all the way this year with  Ben Brown being double teamed and no one else stepping up to be a consistent threat. We’ve got one tall forward in BBrown, so in theory we have a heap of smalls putting on heaps of pressure locking the ball in. Good in theory, but in reality it’s not happening and we’re getting torched on the rebound.

With the amount of players we have clearly injured or underdone, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re out in straight sets.

I anybody mildly concerned about Petracca playing with a fractured in his leg. I know its if, buts and maybes, but I'm tipping Brisbane with target him and and test that leg out consistently throughout the night. Its not that hard to turn a hairline in a major break that could ruin his ability to play next year. Also why would the club advertise the fact he has a fracture, would have thought talking about the calf instead would have been more sensible.

Goody is not going to get a job in the creative arts. He has his method and sticks to it. But on this occasion I would have tried something different. Particularly given the poor form of many. Disappointingly predictable.

Yeah ME

Our performance last week should beat Brisbane this week. Looking forward to seeing Tom McDonald back in against Geelong though. Melk would have to kick 5 to keep him out, and even then you'd still make the tough call for TMAC and his structural importance. And then we might just put Melk at half forward.

I did have a dream last night that ANB was a medical sub in one of our finals. Hilarious that DL team selection infiltrated a dream.

Dumbest post all week.

Would you still take the risk and play him?

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over again and expect a different result. The same with selection, pick the same team comprehensively beaten last week and go in with the same again? Goodwin I know you got us to the pinnacle but surely you can adapt to change and reading the landscape. #straightsetsout #underwhelming

I could not have said it better. Underwhelmed and my confidence is heading south.

The results that are pertinent are those against Brisbane, not last week's. Nonetheless...I am reminded of the name of a late 1960s supergroup: Blind Faith.

I might be wrong and I hope I am, but I recon that given our lack of change and stubbornness to try other options/players we will get rolled this week.

If we do, it has been a poor year in player management and lost development.

The match committee has been right more times than it has been wrong over the last couple of seasons and I have to trust this week's selection.

I know that this team and these players have the ability, talent and a team structure to win this game. They have performed well over the last couple of seasons and defeated Brisbane by nearly 10 goals two games ago.

I am sure that the coaching team will have them primed for a good performance and have them ready for whatever Zorko's Zeros will throw at us. The game against Sydney illustrated exactly what can happen if we lose our discipline. I doubt that will be allowed to happen this week.

I want to us out-pressure them and out-work them across the ground.

Confident of a win - Dees by 7 goals

I’m not sure why anyone is surprised or angry. Goodwin is a believer in sticking to a system and having a stable team. It worked last year. It probably won’t this year, but on paper this is still a very good team that can do some damage.

Unfortunately I think injuries and lack of consistency will be our demise. If we go out in straight sets then this has been an unbelievably poor season considering we were 10-0.

So I guess the definition of sanity is to do the same thing and expect the same result?

Good, ‘cos it’s the same team that beat Brisbane two rounds ago

Really.   We made some silly 50 metre errors, melky will not play so poor again, and we were two players short for most of the game.  The medi-sub should have been used.  Compehensively  beaten. I think that statement is rubbish, we were not beaten by 60 points,  it’s our game to win !  Go Dees

Ancient history when finals start. The Lions are winners so far and we are losers. We looked tired with players carrying injuries last week.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
