CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane

Seriously, just roll the dice Goodwin and stop being so safe.

JVR will provide a contest in the air but more importantly he will at ground level too.

Bowey played half forward a heap through his unders year, he can be given Spargo's role. Brings high energy, pressure and skill to a half forwardline. We know Goody won't drop ANB even after his performance warrants a demotion.

JVR for Melksham, Bowey for Spargo.

At least the fans will have something to get excited about and could drag more supporters along to what looks like will be an underwhelming crowd from us. JVR will breathe life into the group and bring a new energy in.

Be bold Goodwin. Your 'method' has been found wanting this year and clearly we're not bringing the same level of consistency for our game to be firing on all cylinders.

Just give us something new and something to get up and about for.

It is disappointing that we weren't able to trial JVR at some point during the season and Freo was probably the best chance. I don't think we've lost too many games at selection this year but it does make you wonder if we would have been in a better position if we'd got games into him and Chandler who could possibly have made a better case to challenge for a small forward spot. We'll never know though.

I don't think Melksham  was that bad but he should have kicked three goals which might have changed the game.

Not sure what changes we should make. T mac might need another game and won't get one. Bedford a chance but also a risk. Jvr might give the forward line a different look but is he ready. Still believe it's the kicking into the forward line that hurts us.

I think JVR is a better bet than TMac, and l think this may well happen. We need to be adventurous in this “last chance saloon”, particularly to freshen up our attack. Now is the time….

Not only that but it beings energy and life into the team.

Jake Bowey last year was a perfect example.

You couldn't guarantee that JVR would have a good game, but I feel very confident in saying that JVR at the very least, would have a better game than Melk's last one, where he had 5 possies at 20% efficiency.  That is one good possie for an entire game and  several scoring chances stuffed up, to boot.

That was one game. After a very good month. Essentially BOG against Carlton without which we would have played Richmond in an EF and I don’t know how that would have gone…

Harmes in the middle to tag Lachie Neale, Brayshaw back to the wing. Tracc to play majority half forward if he is 80% fit. Dunstan onto the bench. Freo debuted a forward kid last Saturday so I would be tempted to give Van Rooyan a crack up forward. Max to play majority first ruck and stay behind the ball. LJ not sure what to do with him, he is not doing a lot.
Anyway it’s all academic, knowing Goody he will trust his system and go in unchanged if players are deemed fit.

I like Mr Hood but someone would need to come out for JVR.

That's one of LJ & Melk and can't see Maxy being left as the sole ruckman so would have to be Melk.

And would you not have Macca in ahead of JVR?

It's disappointing !!! Only our fault that our Coach seems to have all season ruled out any risks or taking chances!

So we are on this position of very few options with JVR Chandler and one or two others even The Match hardened Dunstan not seriously a medi sub for say Trac.

Disco was tried and got injured so no real NEW player has come on in 2022 except JJ  who was sub in 2021 and is now injured and unlikely to be chosen.

It is a big risk to play him in a do or die final, when he was in average at best form prior to injury

I seem to recall him being in good form before his injury. Might be worth checking out his second to last game for us

Found this tweet the other day.  Don't know if it's true but might be the reason we haven't seen him. On the other side I think Gawn and Olive had the same early issues.

We went to one of the sporting globe nights with May & Lever. They got asked about JVR and they mentioned his fitness and him eating take away for breakfast etc and having to understand nutrition etc to work on his fitness. Could be part of reason he hasn’t featured this year

I highly doubt JVR will come in. Great VFL form and such a prospect, but what we haven't seen is how he shapes up against AFL players at training. Seems to me they reckon he still has a way to go to close that gap. Personally I'm stoked we are no longer the club throwing great white hopes to the wolves. Goody is a method man and his method is process and stability.

Wouldn't mind seeing Chandler get a full game in replacement of Spargo if he doesn't get up. What I've seen from him at Casey is impressive and he played a belter of a game in an AFL practice match against Richmond in 2021 and kicked a 70 metre goal against North at Casey in this year's praccy match.

A bit hard to make your mark in this business when 8 of your 10 games have been as a sub, and out of the two proper games he's played one of them occurred when the sub rule wasn't even invented!

So a bacon and egg mcmuffin could put our finals chances in jeopardy?

All the selection experts on here, maybe the club are more informed and there are actual reasons why JVR isn't playing. Such as fitness, ability to pressure. He has played some good footy for Casey but also had plenty of games where he was poor. Let the kid develop. We shouldn't rush him just coz it might excite the fans or brig more people to the game.  We should play the best, fittest team that gives us the best chance of winning. Goody is clearly not afraid to play first year kids in big games such as Bowey, Kozzi, LJ, Rivers etc.

Nah goody is just stubborn

He has a 'this group won the flag by 12 goals last year therefore this group will do it again' mindset I'm sure of it

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
