Are you presuming we would lose to Sydney and win the semi then?

We would meet Geelong in the PF if they lose the first final again.

Dam you Carlton giving the pies a double chance

A double chance to lose both finals...Colliwobbles...

I'd rather play Geelong in a final than Collingwood.

Yes, it's good to see Carlton complete the biggest choke in AFL history. But a Carlton win would have sent Collingwood into an EF against Richmond, a strong chance of losing and disappearing from the finals.

Now they either beat Geelong and make a prelim, or lose then get the "easy" semi (Fremantle or the Dogs) and make a prelim.

Yep agree completely. The finals are wrecked this year with Collingwood & dogs in it.

The way Collingwood win is getting beyond creepy. They just can’t miss at the death. Some powerful voodoo and witchcraft going on there.

Brutal way for the season end for the blues. Does their miss beat our record from 2017?

It comes close but no cigar.

When Essendon suffers, I always enjoy it because they continuously renew their deserved sentence of eternal damnation.

But the football deities have gone too far with Carlton. It is just gratuitous cruelty now.

If Sydney manage to lose top 4 we have Pies first week. They have been incredibly lucky - beating sides outside top 8 by very small margins. I would like them first up. Go Saints

The one difference between Geelong and the rest of the comp is that I don't see Geelong coughing up a 25 point fourth quarter lead to Collingwood.

They are flaky in finals of course, but still.

I've been betting against the pies for 3 months and losing. No way am I betting against them to reel in the Cats

Dan Butler is the worst player in the AFL.. bar none..

McCreery kicking one from 50 on the boundary, when Curnow missed twice from 20m, is just sickening.

Carlton and their senior players are as thick as 2 planks of wood. Need a point so they go to the boundary how many times.

I'm getting nervous but on reflection I didn't think we would beat the lions by that much.

If we have to cop them, the QF is the best time.

If they make a PF, I want nothing to do with it.

We will be playing on the Thursday night, No way the AFL will waste the Cat / Pies game. It goes straight to the Friday night spot.

Carlton is stupid and so is anyone who likes them.

Absolute do not know how to go about the last  60 seconds.   Short pass rather than the long bomb   and they have a shot with a chance if a goal.  And they had two goes at it. Stuff them bit it cost me the 9

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
