I want to see a really strong all team defensive game, especially from our back 6, no leaky goals please.

Keep the Lions to 70 points or below, Fritsch to kick 4 and Melksham and BBB to combine for 6.

Dees by 37 points.

Flew into Coolangatta last night, 25 degree day up here. Now, looking out at the sun nudging above the horizon on the Coral Sea at Currumbin 15 storeys up. About to go for a run around Burleigh Heads headland and then a dip. Geez I'm glad to be out of the miserable sodding Victorian weather.

I'll be sitting in the members tonight, it'll be a blast. Let's get it done... and if we don't,  I still think we're the only team within the finals that can win from anywhere. ❤️💙

Feeling very confident about this game

Our away record is exemplary, the manner of the Carlton win will give the boys real belief and we have champions players who will rise to the occasion

Snuff out the threat from Neale and Cameron and we're half way there

I reckon Kossie will light up the Gabba tonight

Dees by 25 points

Hugely important game for our flag chances and whether our home and away season could be considered a success.

Not many clubs win a flag with their most recently consecutive win coming in round 16.

Would be disappointed to end the season in an “also ran” position of 6th after starting 10-0.

A win and the sky is the limit for us!

Had a listen to SEN this morning, they played a bit of Fagan's media conference from yesterday. When asked about Neale and possibly Harmes tagging him I'm sure I heard he said we used questionable tactics to nullify Neale last time we played them. He then mentioned it's up to the umps to watch that sort of stuff. Just what the ump lovers on this forum wanted to hear.

Go Dees!!!

It will be a bit difficult to deal with being in the top 4 since about Rd 2 and not making it. Get it done Dees!

I'll be in the Lions members as well Onion.

This is it, we have to take the next step up tonight.

I'll be there with my wonderful dees supporting wife and my lions supporting father in law and some old friends who are lions supporters.

I hope we clobber them.

Nice one Brownie, a bit of locals knowledge please - I used to hit up ‘Ze Germahn Klub’ pre match when I lived up here 10 years ago, alas it’s booked out- any other recommendations? (Not the🍍!!)

I’m expecting a tight error riddled match with the Dees pulling away in the third and for Brisbane to ride the crowd a bit in the final.

Stuck in a hospital bed after a (minor) mishap yesterday.  A win tonight, by a big enough margin to grab 2nd spot, will be just the tonic I need.  Go Dees!

Was rewatching highlights from our GF and it’s been a while since we played with such confidence, strength and speed.

If there is ever a H&A game to treat like a final this is it.

As usual against Brisbane, Hipwood, Daniher and every other mug to bash up Gawn and the forward line. Dees must stand up and make a statement.

When I boarded the plane to Brisbane yesterday and saw the boys I walked past Max on the plane and said good luck tomorrow night & please don't stuff up our top 4 chance.

He said thanks and we'll try not to.

Also wanted to say to May come up with a better strategy for your kick ins but didn't have the guts to do so.

Because the Lions are so hard to beat on their own deck, this would be the first time this year when the Demons aren’t favourites with the bookies.

This is the best time for us to defy the odds, to prove the doubters wrong and to earn our spot in the top four!

The home deck record is pretty misleading.  Yes they've won all 10 there this year, but only 2 have been against top 8 teams (Collingwood in Rd 5 when they were a bit his and miss, then Carlton in Rd 21).

Did he add what they and other teams do to Oliver...

He has played that 'poor Neale' card a few times now this year.  Probably trying to get the umps on side.  He should show more public belief in his team rather than sook.

So what if the Lions have won 18 of their last 20 at the Gabba? The Dees have one of the best away records of the comp and everything to play for.

Cmon Dees - no fake motorbikes tonight please.

Exactly, just means they have to fall sometime. That sometime is tonight.

Unlike the other Grand Finalist (*Geelong), today the team are getting acclimatised to Grand Final Day weather a month early. 😎

Wonder what he would say about Oliver if he was a Lion.

He is in a wresting match nearly every contest to get free to go after the ball and rarely free kicked.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
