If we can't beat this Carlton squad next week then we are definitively not top 4 capable.

swans defence conceding 88 points to bottom side

they'd lose most games to top sides conceding that much

Poor kicking Is poor football. And in the end we didn’t win. Yep and in between the dogs and pies beat us. It’s not rubbish, just keep at us and we will crumbly in the last quarter. We kicked 2 goals to 4.2 in the last. Nothing poor there just outscored in fact doubled our total.

old dee - maybe you should just book an overseas holiday for September right now preferably somewhere without internet

See my new rule of the week thread. He had at least 3 frees in that incident without one being paid. I thought it was disgusting.

The commentators are now confirmed garbage as their comments were not about any free missed but that the violence showed the Pies had come to play.

What about the pile drive of his head into the ground by Maynard? MRO will be a nothing to see hear from ex Pie Christian.

Christian is inept, and biased with an extra conflict of interest this round.

North given up

There goes 3rd spot

We sacrificed our “entitlement” over the last 10 weeks.  Do we want it back enough?  Does Max and the crew really want to deliver us a flag at the G, or would they just like to?  Over to you, team.

It’s always handy when you get to play norf twice in one season

Cats got Norf and Eagles twice, as well as their gift of home ground advantage second to none.

If we beat Carlton but we lose to Brisbane it’s looking very likely we’ll play Richmond at the G for an elimination final. A loss there could set in some PTSD for a lot of us.

As much as a love seeing Carlton being flogged, I would much prefer they didn't let Brisbane accumulate percentage so easy.

Carlton's form is rotten

Brisbane's goal kicking is pathetic

Reasons to be optimistic before we play them both

I don’t understand how the bump works. Cripps chose to bump someone in the air, knocks him out, and everyone says it’s not an issue?

If you chose to bump aren’t you responsible for what happens?

Forget Carlton they are on the nose, dreadful Cripps just knocks a bloke out no report then gets a stagged free in front of goal WTF

Carlton are a media hype team this year so everything is OK.

sounds like they are trying to protect the ‘protected species’. Looked crude to me, even Cripps looked a bit shaken after the incident.

Nearly took his head off. The Lions player was in the air so couldn't brace for impact. Should get multiple games

That’s it, bash each other. In a fair manner of course

Those commentators!

Cripps left the ground, bumbs from behind/side, hits the head, didn’t get near the ball, Che subbed out.

Mathews says going for the ball all should be fine, the rest follow.

Where is the 'duty of care.'

At least 2 weeks.

Players are responsible, that's just the way it is now.  Matthews, Darcy & Hodge are too old school

He'll get cited and could be 2 games out.  Maybe 3.   Looked blatant to me

Ah Chee was subbed off as well

Cripps is in trouble

Unbiased view as well as I recognise that we play them next week

Cripps should get weeks. If he doesn't then the comp isn't fair dinkum.

3AW suggest weeks

If they apply the correct classifications there's no way he avoids suspension.

Carlton Rucks are De konning and Silvagni, u gotta be kidding. Just watched Crapps bump again, he should go for 2 at least but being the Poster boy itl be.... nothing to see here. If it was Byron Picket he'd get 8. Wait on make it 10

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
