Pathetic defending that transition.

They’re literally kicking every goal out of their [censored]

We are leaking every time they go forward

Hibberd not going well

Junk time goal.

My favourite 🙄

Ugh

Goody is furious on the bench. Could see him screaming at players to move into the corridor. Don’t blame him. Despite being up, this isn’t how we want to play. Dogs game all over again.

How are they still in this

Aresy goalkicking and [censored] umpiring.

Salem is back

8 goals from 18 inside 50s is BS

Crisp the ugly [censored] dropped it. Play on. FMD

We are smashing them just letting them kick goals to easy and not making the most of our f50 entries

We’re smashing them in all stats but still only 3 goals up, [censored]!

At least 6 holding the balls not paid to us. Just then against Crisp 5 metres out red hot. Paid against us in a milli second for soft goals.

Need to settle it down in the back half, don’t want a shootout like we did with the dogs

I actually think Gawn has been sensational so far. If he nailed those two set shots, he'd be on track to having one of the best games of his career.

We're only going to win if we start being more efficient and stop making Collingwood look dangerous every time the ball enters their forwardline.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
