Cox hasn’t got near it the last few weeks. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got dropped this week for Grundy.

Despite him constantly reminding me of one of those infallible dudes out the front of a tyre centre, I still get weirdly thrown-off knowing he’s on the ground. I hope you’re right.

Cox is such a wildcard, he can be the most useless player one week and then be the game changer the following week. Credit to him he was excellent against us earlier in the year.

Much like the Freo game, it's easy to forget we had a lot of injury issues/missing players that day. Starting with May, then Petty during the match, then Disco Tuner, then Gawn (played on but shouldn't have). Much like Freo, they took advantage, can they beat us when we have those players available? We'll see next week.

The one thing that concerns/frustrates me about them is that they have had the wood over us lately, even when we have been significantly better.

I really felt like we turned the corner against Freo and the Pies are going to face a different team than they did a few weeks ago.

If Harmes was in 2021 form ....possibly.

A long way off it and coming back from a head knock.  Doubt we would risk him for this role.

Someone does need to run with N Daicos though.  Pretty sure he drifts forward a fair bit.  Maybe Jordan through the middle and Hibb picks him up for the forward bit?

Probably not a full tag but we just need to be mindful of him at Collingwood kick ins and maybe at stoppages. He's just too good to let off the chain. I like your idea with JJ and Hibbo

I'm not sure you could claim the head of the Catholic church is infallible.

Actually you can bin! The infallibility trick comes with job.

Unfortunately, it cannot be used for practical matters such as picking the lotto numbers or the winner of the last at Flemington.

Look, I’d just gotten home from a fun night out at the Forum, and was lacking the clarity to notice what havoc autocorrect was wreaking.

Any news on Howe? Would be great news if he’s an out.

Howe was interviewed last night on channel 7 news and he's confident he'll play.

Injury is very minor.

Taylor Adams is set to miss 1-2 weeks.

Cox has destroyed us twice against us in 2018 (5 goals!) and this year's QBDAY.

Quite happy for him to be omitted.

Does anyone know if Jake Lever will be good to go for Friday. Rolled the ankle twice in the Freo game and I think he did it the week before also. He is a vital cog

In light of Dunstan's 41 touch performance in the VFL this weekend, I'd love to hear 'landers opinions with regard to his selection for the Pies game. He has been very consistent lately and I wonder if this performance elevates him above Harmes, who has been out of touch recently.

I have watched Dunstan quite closely and I reckon he is not quite up to it. He is a handy replacement in case of emergency but he seems to run to the wrong spots and his disposal is not great. Lacks a certain fierceness and polish at the contest

I watched the 6 minutes highlights package on Friday night before knowing the final result or had seen any stats. My impression then of Weideman was that he appeared to bring the ball to ground a lot (admittedly, a polite way of saying he didn't take contested marks) which then resulted in goals to our smaller brigade. On that basis, I thought Weideman might have had quite a useful game. Having since watched the game, I'm not so sure. However, on a wet night, maybe he played his role. Nevertheless, if Brown is fit, he should replace Weideman (unless Jackson is sore and needs a rest).

As well as Brayshaw played on-ball, I suspect he'll return to the backline to allow Harmes back into the side and one of Rivers, Hunt or Hibberd will make way. None deserves to miss out, but that's the great thing about having a strong team.

Is Harmes walk up best 22 anymore? I actually rated the balance of the team more with Hunt breaking some lines off HBF and Gus in the middle. Looked quite potent.

I'd like to see Jack Crisp get a corky this week and end this consecutive streak but that's just me.

If JVR comes in it has to be for Melksham.  JVR is too small to play as the only tall forward.

If Weid goes out it has to be for BBB.  We have to have one TALL key forward at least

If NB goes out then it is a fight between Harmes, Dunstan and Chandler.  My choice is Harmes.

Harmes' best is good. But his worst sucks.

Too up and down for my liking. Play to play he is just super inconsistent and we can't carry that going into finals.

And like others have said, we needed a rejig and winning aside from Friday, the side on paper looks a lot better imo.

Just been watching the QB game against the Pies again.

7min to go in the 2nd qtr we were 5g to 0g

We had no May, Petracca was recovering fm covid still, Gawn did his foot, TMac was out, Turner went out with concussion.

They controlled the corridor. Cox had a day out as we rejigged our defence and were short on talls.

I think we wipe the floor with them this week

Which is a shame for him. He's far better than a week in, week out VFL player.

He knew he was back up when he joined took a chance on playing finals instead of consistent AFL game time. Better than vfl standard but he is not breaking into this midfield barring injury

With Brayshaw getting 5 coaches votes (Gus not Andrew), I can’t see Gus being moved out of the midfield for Harmes unless there is a tagging requirement.

Especially given the depth we have on the half-back flank, and therefore not losing much by taking Gus from the backline

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
