You’ve come to the right place, Brodie.

Not really when you're already paying another elite ruck north of that amount. $1.5m+ out of a $13m salary cap (11.5%) to two ruckman who can't really play elsewhere is lopsided list management.

True bargain is a strong word. However I think having two ruckman in a team is becoming a bit of a trend and makes the team a lot stronger, especially when you have a powerful contested mark in Gawn who can drift all over the ground. We are essentially paying the same as we would for another KPP so I think it will be quite rewarding

Reading elsewhere , allegedly pies membership running hot with fans wanting   To cancel nembership

How does Collingwoods no deal on Grundy compare to ours regarding LJ?

It is clear they have no leverage and risk busting their cap, but I believe them whereas we could afford to lose LJ and potentially get him to WC but looked like a deer in headlights.

Did Meth Coke make us a deal for LJ?

I don’t think they did, apart from Pick 2 is not on the table

I'm not 100% sure Max has thought this through fully.  He's gone from rucking against Brodie twice a year to rucking against him at every training session.

From the highlights package above - I hope he can teach Max to kick straight 🙂

Looking forward to 2023. Of the $$$ is what is mooted this is great value.

Gawn won’t ever be AA ruckman again and that’s ok. If he can kick 30+ goals and allow us to kick to the top of the square then great. Let’s fashion a fwd line around that.

Are you expecting Max to have 120 attempts at goal next year?

Seem to recall a story of Mark Neeld giving him [censored] in his predraft interview in 2012 and Brodie gave it right back to him. Was just a rumour I think but I’m choosing to believe it and say Brodie is a great guy for that alone.

Possibly

I think I see the big picture plan - next year Witts, then Darcy, then ROB and we've fully cornered the ruck market.

Just saw the news. I know it’s not very grown up, but I was going to crack it if we gave them 13 😂 Very happy Dees supporter here!

I'm a bit concerned because since he signed that mega deal with Collingwood he's been poor

Not really. In 2020 when he signed, his form dropped a bit (although not to a ridiculous degree), then in 2021 he had his 4th best possession stat for his career and 3rd best hit outs, and then he only played 6 games this year, so it’s a bit harsh to include this year’s stats.

Max Gawn and Goody wanted this to happen, so i will be fascinated to see, how it all pans out.
Pick 27 is a steal if Reg Grundy is ready to go Round 1

Filth Supporters are frothing at the mouth, so i am happy about that

Having a man-bun instead of a mullet is like playing a kick behind the play, which would suit Maxy perfectly.

They don't have a great record with their champion ruckman do they?  Len Thompson, Peter Moore and now Grundy all left the club in somewhat acrimonious circumstances.  Monkhorst and Manson (not quite in the same league but both premiership players) also finished their careers at other clubs.

I've  heard that he's been told he can lie down on the ground after any game he likes, provided we win..

In: Grundy + 13 + Freo F1 + Freo F2

Out: Jackson + 27 +44 + 67

Time will tell ultimately but on balance i think we've done fine

Just need to sort the back-up ruck spot and we're done

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
