  1. Last time we played Port I thought we were well beaten in the midfield in particular with the way we set up at Stoppages. Butters and Rozee really shined that night and got the 3 and 2 votes. Butters had 41 touches. Did you guys notice anything we did differently on Saturday night? I didn't think Butters and Rozee were as damaging as they were last year.
  2. Reports from Casey on the weekend had Petty not getting much of the footy. Would you be rushing him back this week or let him find some form and fitness at Casey for another week?
  3. Do you think we will be hurt by our departures this season? In hindsight was the Brodie Grundy recruitment a mistake?
  4. I was a bit skeptical when Laurie was picked over Spargo but I thought he did a few really nice things and took his chances and had a hand in a couple of goals. Happy for him to get another look in before finals.
  5. Thanks to this podcast I have been able to observe games and players through a different lens and I usually would have watched Melksham's game this week and just dismissed it as being a standard Melksham low possession, no goal game and would probably screaming for his head. You guys have helped me understand specific roles that certain players, let's call them role players, have in the side. Case in point the incredible Melk. You have opened my eyes to seeing that Jake is the perfect player to play a defensive forward role on key defensive players like he did with Andrews a few weeks back. This week he was playing on Aidan Corr who plays a very similar role to Andrews. In the past 5 weeks Corr has racked up 15, 12, 27, 21 & 18 disposals, had 5, 4, 9, 4 & 8 Intercept Possessions and racked up 344, 373, 369, 446, 535 meters gained. Melky has held Corr accountable this week keeping him to a 6 week low of 10 possessions, 3 intercepts and 239 meters gained. On top of that he had a season high 5 tackles all whilst being mauled at every contest without receiving a free kick and most importantly without getting frustrated about it and having it affect his game.
  6. Great show this week guys. The two and half hours flew by on my commute from London to Frankfurt and back for work. A big thank you on behalf of those half a world away with no other source of Demon-centric analysis. Love the new logo too.
  7. I reckon Dew will easily find employment at another club as an assistant if he wants the gig.
  8. Please please please play JVR and Ben Brown together. 🙏🙏🙏
  9. 6. May 5. Viney 4. Jordon 3. Petracca 2. Salem 1. Bowey
  10. Thoughts on our selection for the Saints game and opting to go small up forward. I would ideally love to have both Ben Brown and JVR in the forward line working together. Melksham played his role and perhaps he can somewhat fill the Fritsch role in the next few weeks. Neither Brown nor Melk laid a tackle though but that’s to be expected. Still not convinced our rucks offer us anything resting up forward. What is our best forward setup going on to the run home?
  11. I thought I would let you know that I had to fly from London to Frankfurt and then back again for work and I was able to listen to the whole of the last podcast on the commute. There and back. Thanks for being my wingmen. Are you concerned about the 2023 Bye Curse? All teams this season coming off the Bye have lost the next week with the exception of the Saints who played the Swans who were also coming off the Bye.
  12. Question for @binman In the Discussion about whether Spargo was a certain starter you were adamant that Charlie would be selected. Were you surprised that he wasn’t picked?
  13. Just watched the match from my village near Bristol in the UK and I must say it was so great to have big Maxy back in the side. We really miss his contested marking all over the ground. 6 contested marks for the match. There is no replacement for that. How much better is having 2 genuine rucks in the side and not having to pull a part time ruck from his role to fill in. Awesome podcast guys. Keep up the stellar work.
  14. Love Maysey. Another quality acquisition for the club.
  15. So too Kozzy's game. The bump, the report and the suspension aside I thought Kozzy played one of his best all round games for the club this week. 19 possies and 4 goals he was electric through the middle of the ground and so dangerous up forward. And he's only getting started. We have to throw the piggy bank at him. Give him whatever he wants. If he wants to move to Adelaide then get him a personal trainer and train over zoom or move the club over there. Joking but we simply cannot lose him.
  16. Fantastic show fellas. I swear I didn't steal George's notes before asking my question.
  17. Rising Team > Carlton Falling Team > Tigers I would like to get the panel's opinion on what they think the biggest changes will be from 2022 to 2023?
  18. First of all thank you for covering these pre-season games. It really is great to have you back talking about the Dees. I cannot wait for the season to start and I hope we can make up for last season's disappointing end. My question for the panel: Is the River's in the midfield experiment over? In the match SIM game last week River's attended a number of centre bounces but this week he only attended one. It didn't appear that he was involved in many of the around the ground stoppages as a true mid either and seem to be back playing his usual half back rebounding role. I get that these preseason games are a chance to throw the magnets around the board a little bit and that is why we got to see him play some midfield minutes in the match sim after being teased about this new role by our trackwatchers. I also get that this weeks practice match was probably more a true reflection of how we are going to play come the real stuff in a fortnight. Having said that I would still have liked to see Rivers in the middle a bit more especially because we still did have a variety of players attend centre bounces this week with Clarry 20, Harmes 20, Trac 15, Kozzy 13, Sparrow 12, Nibbler 7.
  19. Ethan probably doesn't have a problem with either incident. He is feigning moral outrage the way he thinks the "woke left" would act if the gender were reversed. Typical gaslighting from someone who thinks his lifetime of privilege is coming to an end.
  20. Now that we have lost Luke Jackson and secured Brodie Grundy how do you see the Max Gawn/Brodie Grundy combination working? Will they be "rested" in the forward line or will we see our rucks used differently to the Gawn/Jackson combination?
  21. Are we going to see Brodie paraded around in Demon's gear like every other traded player at other clubs?
  22. Hey guys, love the podcast and the website. I don't post much but I read almost everything on Demonland and I listen to the podcast each week. Just wanted to get your thoughts on the comments Ed Langdon made on radio the day before the match. As you well know he labelled the Pies a one trick pony and "all Duck, No Dinner". Comments like this were always going to be used as motivation against him and us. What do you think about those comments?
  23. We absolutely need a Ben Brown type. I would not judge him alone on 2020. If 2 or 3 years ago you said we could get him for pick 23 you absolutely would have.
  24. It's a bit early to be labelling the May trade as the worst. Given the Jesse situation I agree with that assesment but May can still prove his worth. If he keeps getting injured then Cornes will be correct but at the moment he's missed the mark.
  25. Cornes is a waste of space but he's right about this Doco. There are other ways to get the word out but putting out a Doco about returning from Hell when your still in the furnace is premature and smacks of the club having to spend money that could be put to good use elsewhere. Show us results and then pat yourselves on the back.
