Correct. Blues had Cerra well before season's end. We made a late play but never a chance.

That’s not the issue, it was a discussion about what our salary cap is and realistically no fan knows what the true figures are.

If we made a late play for Cerra, then unless we are absolute liars or fools, we had room to pay him what we were offering. That was my point.

Cerra didn’t get big money from Carlton according to reports. And we might’ve had to trade out a player to get draft picks to up our offer. Not convinced Cerra alone means we have a 600k or more lying around unless players go out.

But at the same time I agree with your overall assertion that we can’t be sure we don’t have cash. Especially if the cap rises. Who can actually know?

We also went extra years over dollars to sign Oliver and Tracc long term. Brayshaw too. Guys like Langdon and May should’ve been front loaded before we had a full cap. Gawn, Lever, Salem, Viney have all done extensions to spread them over multiple years.

And if we work on a balanced list where no one position group gets overloaded with money then even worse case we really should be budgeting for key forwards from 2025. We might even be able to dip in to that key forward budget ahead of time.

We are talking about salary cap room and we were right into him. We therefore had room.

Your assertion we don’t have room for an A grade player is another wild guess.

You haven’t got a clue whether we have or not, so stop acting like you really know our salary cap details.

Unless you are Tim Lamb or work with him, you have no better idea than the rest of us.

Now you have changed the subject. The basis of your argument was that we didn't have the capital (draft picks) to appease Fremantle to agree to a trade with Cerra, and that you somehow know that he favoured to come to Melbourne instead of Carlton. Yet he never nominated Melbourne, even though as you say we had the money to offer him. Let's face it, Carlton had to pay overs to get Cerra and our offer was a good $200k less, hence why he nominated Carlton.

Let's just face it, you have NFI about how the salary cap works. I myself work with numbers and know a thing or two about these things alright.

Uber drivers are a necessity in this day and age. Are you trying to criticise or belittle hard working Australians? that seems pretty low IMO.

Bowes & Sharp are two that come to mind that weren't getting regular opportunities

Bowes would add some class

Sharp a chance to head back to WA apparently though

bowes will be a required player with powell/budarick/weller all doing knees. and markov still unsigned and atkins out of favour. they rate him highly

Yes, but the question is: Is that worth a whole chicken with potato and gravy?

I heard the current club is willing to pay for the stuffing.

Huge if true.

Cerra would be a Demon if we had pick 5 last year, or he had waited a year. We were right into him, so clearly could afford him.

Freo demanded and received pick 2 for Lachie Weller. They demanded and received pick 6 for Cerra. Two ‘pretty good’ but relatively unremarkable players (in the scheme of top 10 picks)

We have a 21 year old pick 3 KPP who has won a premiership, a rising star award and is a generational talent.

You can only hope Tim Lamb is constantly reminding Bell-end of this every time they pick up the phone.

Man....if we had pick 5 quite simply he would have been a Melbourne player.   No way we court players without being ableto pay them appropriately.  This is always about draft picks.....same as Jackson will be......who cares how much either WC or Freo offer him, just give us the best deal!

Big on numbers, low on common sense, fmd.

Sorry to get personal but ffs stop banging on about last years trade deals when you clearly have no clue either way about it.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
