Grundy's contract was always rubbish from the moment it was signed (in January with a season still to run from memory) - midfielders are different to ruckman and he was overvalued off one good season. Clarry is a multiple B&F, champion midfielder with one flag already under his belt and leading the AFLCA award and warm favourite for the Brownlow and he's only 24. You wrap these guys up the minute you have the chance.

And not to jinx him, but he’s been remarkably resilient. Has he missed a game since debut?

Not a particularly intellectual comment but this completely sums it up:

F*#k yeah!

Perhaps you were a Collingwood supporter in a previous life ?

What a pleasant surprise!

I didn't expect this to happen this year with Clayton Oliver signing a long-term contract.

It shows that Clarrie has a lot of faith in the Melbourne Demons and wants to be part of long-term success.

Let's hope this signing inspires both Angus Brayshaw and Luke Jackson to follow suit with signing their contracts.

Time to build a Demons Dynasty with multiple Premierships!

Whatever happens this year, I think we've just won 2023, with no distraction from Clarry, Dogga or Gus's contract status. Whatever happens.

I’ve never supported Collingwood.

But perhaps I was a feral pig or a desert rat, or something similar.

Great news! Onya Clarry!

CLARRY CHOO CHOO THE BIG RICH RANGA🤩😍🥰

I would think the long contract gives us a bit of flexibility with our cap.  Run his contract out to his 33rd year allowing us to pay him a bit less in our premiership window years and comparatively more in the back end rebuild years.

Thank you, Clarry! An incredible career at the Dees already and you’re not even half way through.

I remember your first game v the Giants - coming off the bench, being thrust into the middle and winning that centre bounce clearance with your first touch! More than 20 touches in just over 50% game time, most of them contested, so clean, so creative, so courageous. (I and my kids were very cross you didn’t get more game time and also when you were later dropped/managed in that season.)

Apologies to Robbie, but you’re the best MFC player I’ve ever seen, and you’re only getting better!

My dad called me a bastard once.

I told him that was a bigger insult to him than me.

Reminds me of the actor Jack Nicholson telling the story of his mother not appreciating the irony of her calling him a "son of a b*tch".

For anyone who hasn't seen it, make sure you take a look at what I believe is Nicholson's finest movie, "Chinatown". Then come back and read the post I've quoted and you'll understand why I mentioned it here.

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
