POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

Demonland

Recommended Posts

We have kicked 6.16 to 25.9 in last 3 games in second half.

I am sure they are stuffed as a result of training load.

4 injuries in game plus May and Tom out didn’t help.

We need bye to reset and regroup.

JFC there is some massive overreactions on here. We will reset over the bye and be fine.

Pies run in the third started with a horrendous umpiring decision. That isn't paid and it probably ends up completely different.

You're delusional. We are fighting to stay in touch with teams. We've been outscored by 20 goals in the second half over three weeks. That's about a three goal deficient average EVERY third and fourth quarter. That's not just a slump. The season is done. We have Brisbane next lol

Why oh why do we insist on not having a tall as the sub. FFS Tomlinson can play forward at a pinch, he can play wing. He can defend. Three weeks in a row we have defenders go down and the sub is a small forward.
Also why didn’t we put Ben Brown in the ruck to help poor Gawn? This man is going to die on the field for this team. We don’t deserve him!

We have this complete fascination of having small forwards as subs.

One of the most bizarre coaching I've seen.

Play some fringe players who are performing at Casey and drop a few prima donnas. That is what is required. This may be a culture issue that needs addressing now, before the season gets away from us.

This is why the talk of the 'great' culture the club has built (if they do say so themselves) in the off season was laughable. Still get done by teams that bring high levels of physicality. We look like we don't like the contest at times. Don't kid yourselves...Collingwood are a very ordinary football team who made a heap of errors today but beat us through pure willpower.

Its unfortunately looking like we might be a team that played a good last quarter in round 23 last year, beat a poor finals team in week one, and copped cats and dogs with gastro bugs and traversing the country...everything just fell into line. Thankfully the flag can't be taken off us even if we fluked it.

Also Petracca looks like maybe a one season wonder. So poor in the contest and so fumbly under any physical pressure (and sometimes no pressure). Also chases opponents in a manner that only Patrick Dangerfield would be proud of.

Lever is in some horrific form and is embarrassingly bad.

Don't disagree, but with May out, Lever is being asked to play as a KPD - which was never his go. He's never been a great one-one-one, lockdown defender, he needs the freedom to use his ability to read the play to intercept etc.

But then this comes back to what's going on further up the ground, where we're not able to prevent quick ball movement into the oppo forward line and especially, quick transition from opposition back line - which used to be one of our great strengths.

I don’t really understand why people come to this site and try and pick imaginary fights with other imaginary supporters, saying things like ‘anyone who thinks…’, or ‘I called this and was shouted down….’. If it makes you feel better knock yourself out, but it’s weird.

I’m disappointed, but this team is owed some support by us. You can’t go taking pot shots at the players for not being hard enough if you’re going to fall apart as a supporter when the going gets tough. Show up after the bye, show the team you care. Stick with them. They’ve earned that.

At least its 2 weeks before our next loss.

:goody:

What the hell is up with the team? Why cant we unearth forwards like we do with backs?

Scotch...... i need scotch.

Entire game plan is broken and we’ve been figured out by every coach. Goodwin back to proven how crap a game day coach he is.

also Neal-Bullen and Sparrow (among others) are absolutely destroying any forward moves we have and there aren’t many. Petracca also needs a rocket.

Some ridiculous comments here. We're losing matches because we're not able to kick a high enough score, or any sort of score for that matter.

No firepower up forward, and good backlines are doing us over.

Third week in a row of being thoroughly out marked. Not only can we just seem to not compete in marking contests but we don't defend uncontested marks on defensive transition.

I mean we can all see these issues, they are blatantly obvious, why oh why are the coaches not even vaguely changing our style or game plan from quarter to quarter or even from week to week.

This. We are playing like we’re afraid of losing. Get up by a decent amount then all of a sudden go ‘oh [censored] I hope we don’t lose from here’.

We play with no flare and have barely done so all year.

This is all on the coaching and playing group getting way too complacent.

It was fantastic whilst it lasted I guess.

We take zero risk and as a result we are slow and predictable. We used to have some dare and exploded off turnover but once we push out the lead we just drop back a gear and try to defend.

It’s so frustrating to watch what is so blatantly obvious but we know how stubborn Goodwin is with the game plan.

they killed us at the fall of the ball. this isn’t on the BBB or Mitch Brown or Jackson or Max.

it’s on Spargo, Kossie,ANB, Sparrow, Trac, Oliver.

Even with May in, I don’t think we win this. it’s the formula that North abs StKilda used, but executed superbly

Mihocek pulls his opposition player when he's caught playing behind across the forehead down with the ball and that doubles the impact when someone like Petty hit the ground. Neat trick.

The team is tired and desperately needs the bye to freshen up.

As we played in the GF we (and the nose beers bulldogs) played the latest game into 2021 and had less of a break before 2022 season started. Logic would say we should have been in the group of teams that had the first bye, but why would the AFL use common sense and do that?

Add Viney to that list. He just hesitates and throws the footy onto the boot like it's a hot coal.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
