What’s done is done, it’s easy, don’t listen to the media until next week when hopefully they’ll be talking about a great win a huge crowd & we can all move on

Boys will be boys unfortunately some a dumber than others

I like your optimism Billy, but the last month has the smell of something amiss which was not there last year. Get on the Pies this weekend we are not a happy group with a terrible forward line.

Sober team mates seldom fight on a public street dd. In fact happy team mates seldom fight.

I’d imagine May is frustrated because he has been forced out of 2 matches with a concussion, and Melksham is unhappy that his career is at the precipice with one foot dangling over the edge.

Standards won us a flag. We can't afford to let them slip.

Let him stew for the next three weeks until he can play again. Will only make the team stronger.  And if we lose this week let him take responsibility for it. His next game we be against the Lions and he owes us.

What an amazing stupid and selfish act by May, a 30 year old who consistently makes decisions befitting a 19 year old. And ditto for any experienced teammates who stood idly by whilst he was breaking team rules.

Goodwin needs to take charge of this team before the season falls completely off the rails. There are so many signs that this group isn't prepared to do the right things on or off the field that are necessary to challenge for a premiership this year.

Would you have concluded the same if we had maintained the lead the other night, despite the absence of May? It was a narrow loss. Yeah the forward line was an issue, but we should have put that game to bed...Same thing can be said of 1st half vs Freo.

2 weeks ago we were been talked up as invisibles. The media is waiting and hoping that we fail, coz they can't write their usual stories. It's already started. 'NO crowds" "Up at the snow" "internal fighting" blah blah. We, along with the Dogs, are the only teams who have increased the Average Home Attendance from 2019 (year prior to Covid). Where is that story? Why are crowds down across 16 other clubs?

Looking at the menu you'd need a footy player's pay packet to have lunch there! woooooo

Backing out of the room slowly as I love Entrecôte and I suspect stating that might do nothing to help the perception of us as a supporter group.

Cheeseboard anyone?

The game isn't as good to watch and people during covid have discovered watching from home is cheaper and easier.

I was just thinking the same thing! I love Entrecôte too and this story just made want to for a steak and a ballon of rouge.

I think many have underestimated the Kayo impact. For around $10 a week most have had every match piped to their lounge room in complete comfort. Foxtel cable was for the few but streaming was another story.

Add in covid and the AFL bungling the spontaneity factor with its tcketing fiasco and is it any wonder crowds are down

May was clearly happy to allow his selfishness to compromise our team, our Club and its members and supporters.  I'm disappointed and very annoyed.  A leader(?) ............ no way!

any consumption of alcohol in the context of a brain impacted by concussion is absolutely contraindicated - one could say a " no brainer" Especially in an athlete involved in high impact sport. He must know this with all the input given by medical staff. Breath taking stupidity.

I'm but a sample of one.

I did turn up to the Freo game, via a 1.5 hour bus ride...it was nice, but not doable fortnightly, kids sports on the following morning...etc

Kayo makes it easy as pie.

8.5% beers in the Fridge - at AFL mid strength prices.

Tasty and knocked out cold circa 1030 pm, without the drive home.

Anyway, AFL and  clubs are well aware of the drop off. And that revenue needs to be attained aside from gate receipts. As well as 'memberships' to allow you greater value for money, beyond having to turn up.

But we didn't. The winner is determined at the end of the fourth quarter not at half time.

Feeling Dumb Jim Carrey GIF

live pictures of Steven May right now

he must be regretting his actions big time

I have been a huge fan but drinking whilst under concussion protocols and then having a fight is beyond my comprehension

but premierships are won in September and he must pick himself up and know he owes his club and his teammates and us supporters

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
