He had a horror, a shocker, just not sure why you need to literally make stuff up to make that point.

Our Key fwds were so poor for all 4 quarters. I watched Weed closely as I’ve always backed him. Freo didn’t even have a man within 10m of him. They knew he would do nothing. Brown was just as bad. At least contest guys!!

I also am a Weid fan, and love what he can bring but to be honest, his game tonight was indefensible. Just so physically weak and lacked effort. I don't remember him actually leading more than once when he took  that great mark. Actually for many of the contests he might as well have not been there. TMac back in hopefully - if not - I would prefer  JVR to be given a go.

And BBB looked way out of sorts. Again, physically weak and unable to handle the physical hustle-and-bustle of the Freo defenders. But he has a LOT of credits in the bank so one bad game is no means for being dropped.

I thought our first half was excellent. But Gawn, Oliver, Petracca and Viney left their mojo in the change rooms at half time. Big fail in the midfield.

Not surprised one bit with the amount of premiership players missing. This loss has been brewing.

We got absolutely obliterated in every aspect of today's game. There is no sugar coating this performance. 12 goals to 1 in the 2nd half is a concern moving forward.

Where to start.. midfield was smashed today. Oliver tried hard but Jordon was the pick for me. Viney has no right foot and just sells teammates into trouble. Also wtf was up with Petracca?

Forward line is a mess and have barely fired a shot this year. Our connection inside 50 is horrible and needs to be sorted asap as we start playing some hard games in the next few weeks.

On a few individual performance.

Weideman: Yeah nah he's crud. Here I was thinking he'll be hungry tonight and play like he's got a point to prove but nope, he's just crap player in general. Pack him up and just leave him at Casey. I'd rather get games into JVR or play Mitch Brown just to add a different element to our forward line.

Luke Jackson: Going to be extremely harsh here but [censored] it. He's simply having an ordinary year. He's not a good tap ruckman at all and it's like Watching Mark Jamar all over again because he's first instinct is to always handball the [censored] pill. At one stage in the 3rd he won the ball in the centre and had clear space in front of him only to then turn back and handball it back Into congestion for a Freo turnover which resulted in goal. Watched him get easily pushed aside in a rucking contest against David Mundy which was embarrassing to see. If he wants to chase serious coin and head back home then no problems. Get a 1st rounder and use it on a gun midfielder or a forward.

Melksham: Got gifted straight to 200 games. Now see ya mate. Stoked that's the last time we'll ever see him in a Melbourne jumper.

Rivers: Has become a liability down back. Poorly skilled and his awareness and game sense is just not there. Either head back to Casey or rest him if his not 100%. Salem will take his spot thankfully when ready to go.

Petracca: His form is a concern. He hasn't fired a shot for a few weeks now and it's affecting the team as well as our midfield set up. Honestly not sure what's up with him but if he was sick today then playing on isn't courageous mate, it's stupid. Rest him if we have too because we need him fit.

All in all a disappointing game, but it's been brewing for a while now. Some of our top line players are out of form and it's showing now. Change needs to happen pretty quick because we have some big games coming up over the next few weeks.

Yeah I know, it almost felt like the St Kilda game during that first half.

Goodwin's speech must have been a shocker during the HT break to bring our mids down to VFL level.

Credit to Freo. Their defenders continued a good year. Cox towelled up Brown, Pearce was ok and Ryan smashed us.

Aish stopped Oliver and Petracca needed to step up but had a stinker.

They played well. They nullified a number of our good players and our others didn't fire a shot.

For the other team Frederick played like a Harlem Globetrotter when a number of Freo supporters were calling for him to be dropped this week. Smashed us.

I have to say it... I hate seeing Dunstan getting a game.

Dearly missed our two most important players after Clarry today, in May and  Langdon . Which made it very hard against another top 4 side.

With Trac looking very flat like he was carrying something or had a bit of flu I don’t know, and Brown copping a bath two weeks in a row now , we were primed for a loss.

Out marked all over the park we really need guys like Salem, TMac , Harmes , Langdon and May.

Melksham , Dunstan and Weed ain’t  the answer.

Is that the same Mark Jamar who was an All-Australian ruckman?

Can I just say to people that want to go to the football, watch the game. If you want to drink and talk to your friends and be on your phone, go to a pub or restaurant. I had 2 ladies sit next to me and not sure how many cans they had but the more they had the more the laughter got annoying. They were con there phones the whole time and talking about people in there lives.

I really don't know how much they saw of the game.

No May after quarter time. No Langdon. No TMac. Trac was clearly ill (may as well not been there). Freo played well, were clean, brought the heat and transitioned with speed but we were clearly unbalanced and lacked energy (not effort). Forward line remains a concern both in connection into 50, ability to take a mark and hold the ball in. Learn from it. Reset and off we go again.

There is  a part of me that doesn't like what you have posted, and wants to reply with an equally angry defence, but unfortunately in most respects you are spot on. A bit harsh on Jackson but his form has been less than ordinary.

But its one game, and some time soon we will have our best 22 - 25 in place and our system forward of centre worked out.

Viney was excellent in the first half and the only mid still trying in the second. His work rate stood out as head and shoulders above our other mids. Decision making not always perfect but he got sold in to trouble a lot more than he sold others.

Jordon had some good moments but his refusal to take any risk when kicking the ball on counter attacks is really hurting us. He turns every counter in to a slow play before hitting very safe short options or bombing it - and often bombing it poorly. If you’re the opposition you’re delighted the more the ball is in Jordon‘s hands on the wing.

Yeah so missed the point completely over your head bro.

The point was not even remotely about talent.

Try again.

Yeah same, it's odd, I'm not angry, I'm just like oh well we lost. In fact I feel a little relieved because we can't keep winning forever.

I think I'm more annoyed at freo losing to collingwood last week, it's a shame they didn't put in the same performance last week. I don't care it rained.

I was the same. I was more surprised at the capitulation more then anything in the last quarter. Certainly didn't see it coming.

And I'll be honest, I actually don't mind Freo.....

Summary on a few:

ANB...  love the effort he brings in defending/pressure, but how often does he miss a goal he should kick, how often does he choose the wrong option, how often does he try to be the unselfish guy and f__k it up.  Somebody has to get in his ear and get him to be absolutely ruthless.  He annoys me more than the Weid.

Melksham - never to play in the jumper again.

Weid - should never play in the jumper again

Spargo - not a winger

Sparrow - not a winger

BB - still has plenty of points on the board

Viney - love him, but completely went missing in 2nd half

Trac - must be off / carrying something.  rest?

Dunstan - ok as a back up player for Viney, but that's about all

Gawn - Tried hard.  Maybe needs a bit of a rest

Oliver - can't handle a good tag.  Still a jet though

TMac - amazing how much extra balance he brings when in the side.  Can play both ends.  Missed him today when May went down.

Kozzie - Get him into the centre for bounces more often

Jackson - needs to kick the damn thing

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
